Hotel Grand Chancellor Melbourne, Melbourne
very disappointed
Disappointed. I requested for high floor room and away from elevators when I booked the hotel. but upon arrival, they told me that the hotel was full and gave me a room right next to elevator! what a disappointment. we could hear the lifts moving every single night which disrupted my parents' sleep the whole time!

Cruel staff
hen I arrived there was two tables in the restaurant, one with two people and one right next to me with four. Still it took 18-23 minutes for my two glasses of wine to arrive. When we where seated in the restaurant I'd ordered two medium steaks and it was so bloody it was blood all over my plate so I told the guy in the bar and he said "I will talk to the chef and see if we'll do anything about it" as I work in a restaurant and bar back home (6 years experience) I expect where ever I go the same service we provide = if there's anything wrong with the experience we will be humble and fix the problem. No question asked. And when I got it back they had clearly cut off 1/2 of my beef and added beans on the plate. While my potato mash was now cold. They never came back for feedback or asked if the food was good. So no, my stay there was not good, and knowing you sent me this email the whole experience was horrible, due to my new knowledge of your receptionists (we told three of them since we never heard anything before check out) not acting responsibly and just letting problems pass hoping it will blow over.

The Fawlty Topwers of Melbourne.
Room was nothing more than an oversize cupboard, not a premium room by any description. Curtains did not fit or draw correctly especially as the net was inside of the blackout curtains. Carpets were worn. Bath was cramped. Towels worn & dirty. Breakfast staff were rude. Very noisy at night, no double glazing. Go to the Hyatt instead. Cheaper, better, cleaner & not rude.

Convenient and friendly staff. Great value
I have been staying at the Grand Chancellor for some years now on my way home every December They always welcome me back and I have never had a bad stay there over the past 5 years. I strongly recommend this business. Great staff
