Nice hotel
Hotel was nice, clean, it just needed a fresh coat of paint and some new curtains. Staff messed up merge our two different reservations to the same room so our keys didn’t work but it was quickly taken care of. Didn’t go to the pool but it looked nice, bar was nice. Personally I liked the mattress but beware of those bedframe corners! I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, many nice ones, and this is decent enough. Honestly, if the room was more up to date it would be a winner.

Not the best, but not terrible either
I’m a little confused about all the great reviews on the Bonaventure. It was our least favorite hotel we stayed in while visiting Quebec. It has a strange setup that no one explained until we were checking out (the lobby is on the 17th floor, because the hotel only takes up 2 floors of this building, below are offices). So when you walk in on the ground floor and you’re not in a lobby, and you can’t check in but are told to get in the elevator, it’s very confusing. The staff themselves were not very friendly or helpful. Only the guy that helped us check out was nice and actually smiled. The rest seemed to avoid any contact unless we asked them something. However our room was nice, big and comfortable and the pool area is very cool, as are the small duck pond/streams. The jacuzzi however had very large spiders that other guests were complaining about, and some had even fallen into the water and were floating around dead. The hotel could easily have hosed off that area to rid it of spiders.

It is dated and needs work It is in a commercial building under renovation Hallways are dark with multiple steps to reach the rooms Our room had sacks of dirty laundry piled on the floor outside the door along with other guests uncollected food trays for most of our stay

Great surprises
For a city hotel, this was wonderful. The hotel sits on the 11 th floor with an entrance at ground level with a concierge. Check in on the 11th floor. The surprises were a courtyard heated pool and hot tub which was in constant use. (Photos of people swimming in winter too). There was a second courtyard with small waterfalls, running water and a pond. There were areas for reading and relaxing and there was a smokers patio. There were wonderful flowers and ducks and ducklings! Parking was in a commercial garage reachable from the hotel as were the underground markets and trains. There was a restaurant in the hotel entirely adequate. No free breakfast but coffee makers in the room and Starbucks very close. Also the bedside table lights were fitted with 2 plugs each!
