Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, Fish Camp
Very Disappointed
With the recent wildfire, we understood that we would be unable to visit Yosemite as planned but decided to still go and enjoy the hotel since their many messages indicated that they were still open as normal and only adding activities to their regularly scheduled amenities. Unfortunately this was not the case. Three out of four restaurants were closed and many of the activities we planned on enjoying were not available. The cottage room we booked was not available and yet they refuse to credit us the difference in room types. That’s all we asked. The limited staff that was still there were fantastic and tried to make the most of the situation but management’s obvious attempts to save money at the expense of their guests was very disappointing. This was our second time at the resort and had planned to continue to visit over the coming years. Unfortunately, we will no longer be doing so.

Housekeeping Staff Needs Training
At 7:30 on a Sunday morning, we were woken up by a very loud vacuum cleaner in the hallway outside our room, and an even louder conversation between the cleaners trying to talk over the noise. Just before 8am, one of them knocked sharply on the door and tried to come in DESPITE the fact that we had the Do Not Disturb sign hanging on our door (we even checked to see if it was still there because we couldn’t believe that the housekeeper would have ignored it). It marred what was supposed to be a relaxing stay. The rest of the staff - the bell boys, parking attendants, restaurant staff - were professional and friendly. Our check-in was OK, if a little cold and impersonal.

Clean & Comfortable, lacking customer service
For a hotel that charges top dollar you need good service. Even though valet parking is suppose to be included with the daily rate when we arrived we were told to get our cases out and drive the car ourselves unless we want to pay a gratuity for valet parking, charming, I thought we pay this for good service not because we are being told to. The children's activities were perfect, very polite and engaged. Reception was good too. The coffee shop & gift shop made me feel as though I was an inconvenience, and the food is below par except for the Summerdal BBQ which was very good and plentiful. I'm surprised there is no gift wrap for the gift shop or an option to buy a gift bag. Lots of really good local excursions. Some of the tours are too long for my young children, I would of liked to of seen a day excursion for the children with the kids club, they would fare better in a coach with other kids seeing the glaciers than with adults that get upset if they so much as breathe. The pool area is clean and the pool is warm it was never too packed not to get a bed to relax. Not sure we will go back even though we are only 3 hours away it didn't feel special to us. The rooms do not have sound proofing but most families seem to go to bed early so it all gets quiet just after 9 but everyone is up early.

Grand, beautiful, awesome
Although this place is beautiful amongst the awesome backdrop I was slightly dismayed at the circus-like atmosphere. I wasn't really expecting a Disney adventure for the amount of money spent. Fortunately we were only staying one night on our way through. One other issue was the incidentals charge upon check in. I understand that this is a necessity but it was a turnoff being the way it was handled as every customer seemed confused and questioned it, leading to longer wait times. I would suggest a different approach/procedure. Everything else was great though.
