Historic Strater Hotel, Durango
Hotel was once nice, but has diminished a lot.
We've stayed at the Strater numerous times a year (probably stayed close to 40 nights there) for going on 5 years now. The condition of the hotel is diminishing. Once again, there was no heat in our hotel room. Front desk seemed confused about how to use the thermostat, but then later told us that they hadn't yet turned on the heat in the hotel. How do they book out the hotel without having common conveniences? It wasn't terribly cold, but 65 degrees is a bit uncomfortable. If it was much colder, we'd have moved to another hotel. Also, the wallpaper in room 200 really needs to be cleaned. There appears to have been some kind of splatter event (lord knows I don't want to know what it was) taken place prior to our visit. Thankfully, our daughter is graduating from college in December, and we'll not be coming back for a while. And when we do, we'll probably be looking for a new place to stay.
