Rude staff, dirty and hot room (windows nailed shut for some reason), very loud outside. Not much sleep on this trip

Great property, extremely slow WiFi
The property is great, the biggest downside is the WiFi. It's unusable because it's so slow slow. If you need WiFi, you might want to consider a different hotel.

Just as comfortable as the pricier hotels
It's not the Mark Hopkins, or the Intercontinental or The Palace Hotel, but honestly i felt just as comfortable at The Mystic as I have at those other, much pricier hotels. The area is perfect, just steps from Union Square and loads of cute little bistros (my favorite is Bouche, just up the tunnel steps and to the left - 2 minutes walk from the hotel.) The bedding, comfortable; the towels, fluffy and the room, quiet. True, there is no air conditioning, but it's San Francisco. You don't need it. There is a ceiling fan, the windows open and there is heat for winter months. Plus it's very cute. Just like the photos. Another reviewer said they thought it was dark and creepy or something like that. Just, no. As a side note there is no coffee maker in the room. The Palace doesn't have one either. That is why I travel with my Nespresso machine. There is a Keurig in the lobby. I travel a lot, all over the world and this hotel overall, was everything I expect from any hotel stay and at a bargain price.

The hotel is decent. The lobby is a bit outdated and the rooms are small. But it was clean and had all the basic amentities to make for a decent stay. Our room was adjacent to the stair case so we could hear all the wood creaking as people walked. This was a bit of an issue in the middle of the night. Overall, it was a decent hotel. The noise level is the only issue we had.

Stay Away from the Mystic
There was no tv service, no amenities in the room such as water glasses, the hotel looks like a bordello and to top it all off, it's in a very bad location in the downtown area.
