Room has been recently redone with clean new fixtures and comfy bed. Location is unbeatable and the staff was friendly. Only complaints would be the pool area, which is pretty dingy and did not look fit to swim in. Also, there was quite a bit of construction of other wings of the hotel going on and the walls/door are quite thin. I was kept awake starting at sunrise every morning with cleaning staff and other guests shouting and slamming doors outside in the hallway. I am a fairly deep sleeper and am used to sleeping through NYC street noise, traffic, etc., but this was very loud and jarring. That said, for the price and quality of the room, as well of the location, it's hard to beat. I would stay here again.

Best of the French Quarter
Excellent hotel in the French Quarter. Would definitely stay there again. Newly renovated with comfortable mattresses and great balcony off the room. Walking distance to all the great restaurants, shops and Jackson square. Close enough to experience Bourbon Street but far enough away from the noise.

Half block to Bourbon St.
If you're in town for the late night parties and pass out/ sleep hard you'll enjoy the exterior balcony rooms... otherwise choose an interior room. Loud pounding music from Bourbon and cursing, yelling drunks kept us up til after 2 a.m... walls and windows seem thin. Then trash trucks and banging dumpsters begins by 4 a.m. It's fun to enjoy the larger balconies in view of Bourbon St. in the day time, but don't plan to sleep. Otherwise location is central to all of French Quarter. We walked to Frenchman area, over the other direction across Canal to Mother's Restaurant, up to Louis Armstrong Park, and down to the French Market and Riverfront, so pretty easy walk in all directions. Valet your car and leave it. Traffic is a pain.
