Poor 2.0
Loud and smelly. My worst stay ever.
This was my last overnight stay during my recent trip to Australia and a real disappointment. I arrived in the morning but could not check in (OK, given that the check in time is 14h). The room was one floor below the top-floor restaurant and seemed nice when I checked in around 16h. After a couple of hours, things got really noisy when the room next door was occupied by a family with a newborn screaming constantly. In addition, a noisy, brawling party started in the restaurant upstairs. At first, I put up with it hoping that the kid would keep quiet and the noise upstairs would stop when the restaurant closes. Instead, it became worse and the receptionist said the event would go beyond normal restaurant hours. Hence, I asked for a different room. But the new room was a disaster, less comfortable in terms of the interior and smelling muffy and smoky, a fact acknowledged by receptionist on duty at that time. Apparently, it was the last room they had, so I was forced to stay in a smelly room to get some sleep or to go back to the noisy room to get no sleep. The WORST of the whole experience however happened during the next morning when I confronted the front desk with the facts acknowledged the night before. Not only did they deny this, they sent someone up to check claiming the room smells fine. This was the worst treatment that I ever received. I was fed-up and did not want to accept the free breakfast offered. Actually, I could not as I had to catch my flight back to Europe.

Staff very helpful Car parking very challenging with a utility but nice and secure. Very tired looking inside e.g. carpets in hallways were very threadbare, large cracked tiles in bathroon, split system air con was unusually noisy but the smell that came out of it was stale and made me turn it off quickly (worried for health!). There was moisture build up on the carpet where the AC pipework met the floor and the AC unit dirty looking so very much in need of maintenance etc. Staff were very responsive when I mentioned the AC smell the next day but who knows if anything would get done about it. Breakfast the next morning was terrific and a relief (after seeing state of room). Lovely chef and wait staff. We had a garden view room. Views lovely, was a Friday night and lots of noise from road but was so tired that I could sleep through most.Could hear lifts through the night as we were very close. The actual lifts themselves were clunky and seriously bouncy upon the door opening...a little scary. Pool and spa looked nice but didn't get to use them. Overall staff great, bed clean and reasonably comfortable, facilities below average (clearly no money spent in a long time) and secure parking. Wouldn't hurry to stay here again unfortunately.

Exceptional 10.0
The spa room was spacious and clean and comfortable. We had breakfast in the Sky Bar and there was plenty of fresh food with great service from the staff. One lift is currently not working due to a refurbishment but we still didn’t need to wait long for lifts and the building and rooms are looking great. Gorgeous views over the South Tce parklands.

Rydges adalaide Jan 2019
The first room I was given was not great, it had a spa bath, but the rest if the room was out dated, furniture in desperate need of a renovation, and the elevator does a loud drone sound that you hear from the room. After a hour I went back to reception and said I will leave the next day, I was not impressed. I was offered a upgraded room for a extra $20 per night that I was shown first, this was the furtherest point on the level from the elevators, this room was much better. But after 3 days that elevator can still be heard. This building is in need of refurbishing, but it was ok. Not was I expected from a company like Rydges. You also have to pay a extra $10 per day to park your car, and it can take up to 15 mins for the gate to open, if there is not a staff member at the desk, they can't press the button to let you in. In all I would say this hotel is ok, but I probably would not stay there again. But the staff were friendly, the room service by food was amazing, and the veiws and roof top pool and spa we're fantastic.

Good hotel at a good price
The hotel is an odd collection of positives and negatives. The room was comfortable, but had only a small desk and chairs with no comfortable relaxing chair to sit in. The bar was clean and bright, but had the most uncomfortable bar chairs I have ever found. Breakfast was hearty and plentiful, and the breakfast staff were terrific. There was a micro-exercise room at the top, with a couple pieces of equipment and a pool as well. The pool was open to the air so likely pretty cold during the winter. There is a laundry available, with probably the only two comfortable chairs outside it in the whole hotel. You do have to pay for parking, and the parking gate is a bit difficult to use. Free WiFi was a plus! The price on Hotels.com was what sold us.
