The Queen Mary, Long Beach
The room you book may not be the room you get.
The rooms are tiny. If you are claustrophobic this might not be the hotel for you. We booked the deluxe room with harbor view as the room looked bigger. The pictures for a deluxe room are misleading. They make it appear to have an adjoining sitting room with table and chairs. According to hotel only 4-5 rooms are actually like this. Our room had enough room for the king size bed and maybe 2 feet on either side. We were upset we did not get the room implied in the pictures. They could not do anything about the room rate since we paid via, but they waived the $16.95 per night facilities fee. So this helped a little, but be careful that the room in the pictures is probably not going to be the room you get. There is a $22 per night parking fee. Our reservation came across as two different reservations. Luckily we got to stay in the same room, but they implied that we might have needed to change rooms. Also no in room coffee maker, no ice bucket (probably could have requested one), and outlets in room did not hold plugs very well. Only two worked to charge our phones and none near bed. Walls between rooms are really thin. Hotel even has signs saying this. you will get one noise warning before you are asked to leave and charged 250 (on top of what you paid for the room). We discovered the thin walls when an adjoining room decided to play music at 1 AM. The boat is old so cleanliness is subjective, but it smelled old. Every door jamb was raised and kept stubbing toes.

Room with no view!
We loved the actual ship! Very cool! However.....our room was basically a box. No charm whatsoever. I expected no windows because we got an inside statesroom. Our room was not particularly clean either. Lots of hair on the floor in the bathroom. We were there for our nieces wedding on the ship as well as the reception. The day after the wedding we asked for just and hour or two later check out as it was a late night. Lots of money spent on the entire event.....but still they could not accommodate us even slightly. They did an excellent job with the wedding and reception by the way. Food was awesome! Many of us were very dissatisfied with our rooms.

Far and away.
We decided not to stay at the Queen Mary because after I booked our stay, I noticed that it was not within walking distance to other activities. I should have payed more attention before we booked our stay. I was not able to get a referendum, so we just didn’t show up for our visit. Also, I heard the hotel has a parking fee and a resort fee. This was an additional reason to pass on a visit.

Disappointing stay.
Our stay on the QM was a bit disappointing. The bathroom was in bad shape. The bathtub coating was peeling, there was rust all around the toilet and the toilet did not flush completely. We had to hold the handle down on the toilet for much longer than normal, then the toilet began to leak. We complained and asked for another room, but they had no more vacancies so they tried to repair the toilet. The leak was repaired, but it never really flushed completely without running the water for a long period of time. It was sad to see such a historic ship in this stage of disrepair. The carpet on the stairs was worn in several spots and simply covered with tape. I understand it's a lot to keep up a ship like this, but the cosmetic fixes are easy and usually less expensive. I would love to see some restoration projects undertaken to address these issues.

The boat is old, be aware
The boat is historical, but the condition is less than favorable. Over all clean except for the bathroom fan and the vanity light fixture, both of which needed serious dusting. The night we were there they broke a water pipe and didn't have water on the boat from 11 PM till after 6am. And be aware if you need outlets there may only be 2 in the entire room. On a positive note we talked to guess services manager and she did discount our stay
