8/10 Very Good

Super friendly host and staff. I called ahead to say I’d be late and the owner advised that the kitchen would be closed . However she called back to say the chef would stay on so I could eat which was really kind. The room was comfy. The road was quite noisy until late on, but I slept so well. I had been left a selection of gluten free breakfast options, they had gone to a lot of trouble to cater to my diet. Really good value . Would stay again

Excellent value for money
Nicely furnished and decorated room, clean and comfortable. Very good tea/coffee selection with fresh milk provided and well thought out quality breakfast tray to eat in the room. Overall very good value for money. The only downside was my room overlooked a busy road and I was woken a number of times by passing traffic and loud passers by on foot. This is my second stay and I would definitely come again, but only if I can stay in the back room overlooking the garden as I didn't experience disturbed sleep there previously.

Don’t go there.
We were very disappointed with our stay. The staff didn’t care if we were there or not. There was no breakfast except an apple a packet Croissant and a porridge pot that you had to add hot water to. This wasn’t replenished on the second night, so it was 1 crap breakfast for 2 nights. The TV was tiny and mounted as far from the bed as possible. The room was tied and could do with updating. The pub food was overpriced and bland. It would not take much effort for the Pirate Inn to be a top destination but I get the distinct impression that due to the fact that they can rent the rooms easily they don’t make any effort. I wouldn’t have minded quite so much but it is not a cheap place to stay. I understand that locals in Cornwall resent the high house prices and the hoard’s of tourists turning up, but don’t worry if they carry on like this there will be no more tourists and the local economy will suffer even more. Make an effort and embrace what you have or you will loose it.

Excellent customer service, shower broken though
Customer service was excellent, went above and beyond going so far as to stay open late past check in due to being held up in traffic. Room was quite small, but had lots of little goodies in. Was very well thought of. Sadly however, the shower wasn't working. Not the news i was wanting to hear after driving 600 miles. Overall, not bad but not brilliant for the price. Would stay again though 👍

Comfortable stay
Beautiful large room, clean and asthetic with garden view. Ensuite was a bit of a squeeze but of a high standard with good selection of toiletries provided. A lot of thought put into the breakfast items provided in the room and fridge in room kept the dairy items chilled. Intended to use the restaurant for dinner but was told I should have pre booked so drove into town and ate there.
