Radisson Blu Hotel Olumpia, Tallinn
Good hotel, but some negative experiences
The hotel was clean, and Tallinn is small enough to walk into the old city (even though the location is a bit off from city centre). The room was great except for that there was no air condition during winter, which meant that there were basically no air circulation. In our case, the room got very warm and we had to had the window open. Right outside the hotel is a rather busy 6-file road, so that meant noice. The hotel staff also left windows open to get some air in the corridors (which was really warm aswell) so I guess this is a bigger issue than my individual room. The spa on the top floor was nice with a pool and saunas, however - both the mens and womens saunas were quite filthy and the male receptionist were quite rude. He didnt want to give us extra towels even though we lived in the hotel. "Go down to your rooms and get your own towels" was his answer. Breakfast was great though! And we did get a late check out free of charge, which was kind. So all in all, a good hotel - but the warmth in the rooms, and the negative experience from the spa-area, draws the rating down significantly.

overall wonderful, but a few small issues
Posh hotel, upscale decor and amenities, silent, serious blackout curtains, quick, thorough, invisible housekeeping. I highly recommend the jewel suites on the 13th floor if you have the means. Huge living area with 6-person table, espresso machine, huge soaking tub. Overall, a great stay, but I gave it four stars instead of five for a couple of reasons: First, the spa area was closed for renovations while we stayed there. We booked a suite in part to have access to the pool, sauna, etc. (which is free with a suite), so it was a bummer not to get what we paid for in that regard. Second, while the food at breakfast was fantastic (huge, great selection), the service was unpleasant. Breakfast ends at 10:30. We came in one day at 10:15 and were warned by the hostess to hurry. At exactly 10:30, a fleet of servers stripped every last bit of the buffet, then one server hovered about 5' feet away from our table glaring at us until we left. I mean, I get that you have to turn the restaurant over for lunch, but we were hardly lingering -- in fact, we ate so fast that I was afraid that my son would choke -- and the overt hostility seemed a little over the top (not to mention out of place in an upmarket hotel). Finally, the location isn't great. It's pretty far from old town in a neighborhood that is not aesthetically pleasing. Tallinn is small enough to walk anywhere, so this wasn't a big deal for us, but it's unusual for a Radisson Blu.

Great comfort and convenience
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast buffet, close to medieval old town and harbor. The view of the city from our high floor room was breathtaking with an incredible sunset.

Reception couldn’t give me an invoice
The hotel is very good and comfortable, I always liked Radisson because I know what to expect. This time, however, I had an issue as I reserved and paid 3 nights via, but because of weather conditions, I missed my flight to Tallinn and I couldn’t make it for the first night. I called the reception to tell them I would like to cancel it, but they said it’s not possible because the reservation was made on I was also told I will still be charged the full night, although I explained that I cannot physically make it there because of reasons completely out of my control. I guess even if it’s a snow storm and the plane can’t take off, it’s not sufficient to cancel a night after the deadline. Anyway, I got tired of explaining, so I just asked for the invoice for the 3 nights - even though I stayed 2 - and they said they cannot give it to me because I made the reservation on and I should get the invoice from them.... A few weeks ago I made a similar reservation, on, stayed all the nights I reserved and they were able to give me an invoice, no problem. Nobody was able to explain why. I guess if you stay 2 nights and pay 3, you don’t get an invoice.
