Cons outweigh pros...won't revisit this hotel
Pros: There were some really friendly staff such as Sharan(I believe thats her first name) at the front desk, the bartenders at the reception and some of the other housekeeping and maintenance staff we ran into throughout our stay. The room was much larger then expected and the balcony view was nice. The free buffet breakfast in the morning was delicious although slightly disorganized. The evening reception was nice. Cons: Some of the staff were extemely inattentive and lacked customer service skills. There was not always someone at the front desk and it took three tries to get sheets and extra towels to the room because staff kept forgetting. Valet did not offer to help with bags on the way in or out. The last con is the set up of the hotel. Almost 30 floors and only the 2nd floor has an ice machine...that seems just crazy to me! Also for this many floors there are 3 very tiny elevators that both guests and workers use so it's at least a five minute wait to catch a ride even longer during high volume times (after waiting over 10 minutes for an elevator to check out with each one that stopped filled to the max with guests, their luggage, and some housekeeping staff I chose to go down the 17 flights off stairs with all my luggage. As I mentioned there were some great staff and the room was comfortable however the cons outweighed the pros as I felt inconvenienced during my stay and generally unwelcomed. The next time I visit Philadelphia I will try a different hotel.

Hotel Needs Work
I normally love Embassy Suites. This one however was a disappointment. The first room we were assigned was disgusting. The smell alone made it impossible to stay. In an effort to cover up the smoke smell, from someone smoking illegally, the staff used a heavy deodorizer with such a strong smell I was instantly congested and my eyes watered. Then we looked at the touted private balcony. Ours was on level with the roof of the restaurant and the ventilation and air conditioning units. There were cigarette butts, 5 lighter, one syringe and an ashtray. In addition a ladder leading from the the restaurant terrace to the room was easily accessible by anyone. To say the least unsafe! This room was also dusty and a bit dirty. My request to move was accommodated and this second room was at least safe. The furniture was very well used. The bathroom was rusty and the tile grout stained. The bedroom door was so warped it would not close. The maids had left out bedding on the chair and in the two days we were there it was never removed. My initial check in person was abrupt and made no apology for the 15 min wait in line. Also, when I finally reached the front desk, our room was not ready even though it was after the 4:00 o'clock check in. He told me to come back in 15 to 30 min. Guess what? I got to wait in the check in line again, though only for 5 min. Of course 20 minutes later I was back at the front desk due to the room issues I've already mentioned.
