The Nest is a mess
I should have known we were in for a mess when I saw the business card for the “event manager” in this old remodeled motel. After returning from dinner, they jammed a 100 plus person party into the small lobby and patio. All parking was taken, which as the manager confirmed contradicted the statements on parking on their website. They resolved the issue by having employees move their cars for guests returning in the evening. I actually felt sorry for them as a hotel when I walked up in my pj’s late at night to grab a cooler out of my car, inches away from a thumping posh party on the patio. Yes party goers, you are dancing in a motel parking lot. The manager promised a small discount and confirmation of the discount when we checked out. They did not complete this as stated. Was there probably a meeting with investors and owners discussing their vision and style as a new Palo Alto start up? I can only imagine the buzz words tossed around the conference room. Does it work? No. The physical space and layout does not accommodate anything more than a simple hotel.

For the price, I would at least expect a pool.

Pleasant Surprise
I did not expect much and was blown away. Great staff. Loved the lobby, bar, patio combination and the outdoor seating is a real treat. Room was spotless. Simple but very comfortable and perfect for my needs and far better than expected. Will definitely be back.

Avoid room 101
The hotel was fine and the service was good. My only issue was the noise level outside my room late at night. I had room 101, which is close to the tables and there was a group talking and laughing past midnight on a weeknight. I could hear the whole conversation as if they were inside my room.I did bring it up to the staff's attention, but nothing happened.

The room seemed to be clean but our bath towels were hard and a few had stains on them. Beside that, the room was fine and comfortable enough. The Nest is another drive up motel on El Camino.
