The only complaint is the pool area closed at 8pm, it would be nice to sit out there in the evening and enjoy the beautiful weather

    So-So SoBe Stay
I have stayed at several beach front South Beach hotels over the past few years. Yes all of them have tiny rooms as to be expected and during the holidays but I felt that even though I got a good price this hotel could have done a few things better to make it a more enjoyable stay. First, when I checked in, I was not greated by a bell-man or valet of sorts to help me with my bags. I actually was not offered any help carrying up my bags by the front desk staff or another hotel employee. Second, my 'city view' room really only had a view of the roof of the hotel next door. Third, there were small maintenance problems with my room. Our door would always get stuck after opening it, so to ensure that it closed properly you had to give it a good tug. Some of the tiles in my shower were chipped and the bureau in the room was in need of some new varnish. The biggest pro was the super friendly pool bar and hotel bar staff. However, I couldn't help but feel that they were overwhelmed and would have benefited from having more people on staff to help them.

    room for improvement
First off, do not ask me for my number to text or call when my room is ready. This is the SECOND time you did not. Next, your hallways carry sound, so to have staff chatting in the hallway, in front of my door, is unacceptable. You also should invest in shocks that close the doors gently. We heard slamming for 2 hours when we finally decided to get up. Third, not your fault , as it was unseasonably cold, but our room was chilly with no heat option. Finally, you should upgrade your pillows to something softer. I feel like I am sleeping on a brick. My neck still hurts. Only 2 people stand out as personable and customer service oriented. The bellman whose name escapes me, and the bartender, Tatiana, at the Backyard. The front desk does not make you feel important or welcome as they will be allowed to be interrupted by other guests. BUT the location and free amenities are enticing.

    Marseilles Hotel
Nice hotel in a perfect location. Ocean front!!! They also give you 2lounge chairs and a beach umbrella included in the cost of the hotel There is a $20 daily resort fee, but nominal for beach area hotels and the included perks. Fantastic pool area with great happy hour for 1$ a drink. 1block to Lincoln Rd Mall. Friendly staff. If you have a car, you can park in the 14th street parking lot overnite for $16. It’s cheaper than the $31 at the hotel. The only complaint would be that in our shower, we couldn’t control the heat in the shower-was almost too hot to bathe and the toilet had trouble flushing. But loved it so much for beachfront properties at a reasonable price, that we will stay there again
