I wasn't very impressed with the room, cramped layout and the bathroom wasn't comfortable. I was also next to a service door so I could hear people going in and out all day.

My new favorite hotel in SF
Stayed for a few days while moving my son into a summer apartment a few blocks away-- we loved the Hotel Kabuki! The vibe in the lobby is super fun, with a cool bar area and several spaces arranged for hanging out in groups-- the decor is great. Really loved the way the rooms were laid out as well. Super large TV with Netflix (we still signed into our account, but it was easy to get to on the TV) made it very easy to decompress while watching some of our favorite shows at night. So many thoughtful details-- nice desk space, small refrigerator in the room, corkscrew, earplugs in the night stand (I didn't need them, but still), umbrella, bathrobes, & many more nice touches made this a very comfortable stay. Being right in Japantown was great-- easy access to great food and fun shopping in a very walkable area. One note of caution-- the hotel breakfast buffet is very simple and nicely made with quality ingredients, but very pricey-- we paid $22 pp (I had oatmeal and my son had some egg and a bun, we both had coffee)--it was nice to have fast and easy access to a healthy breakfast, just a heads up on the cost. The wifi was a bit of a challenge as well; we were not staying here for business, so it wasn't a deal-breaker, just took us a while to do anything online. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it without hesitation.

Great hotel but avoid the expensive breakfast
Overall, this is a great hotel and a perfect place to stay if you are seeing a show at the Fillmore of if you have other business in Japantown. My only complaint was the high price for the buffet breakfast. No where was this price advertised, and the selection was also pretty meager given the cost. Had I known in advance what the breakfast cost, I would have opted out. A gratuity was also added on, which was odd, since the only service that was given was coffee. Anyway, the rest of my experience at this hotel was very positive.

It was a nice hotel. Newly renovated but the plumbing was old. I had to change rooms because of a toilet that did not flush. Kind of a hassle. I was also supposed to have the breakfast included which we not very good, but I was charged $28 for a buffet in which I took a single almond croissant. Disappointed and I will not return.
