Elevators are very slow....
I was a bit surprised about the condition of the hotel based on the reviews I read before booking. The lobby is very small and not very welcoming. The worst part about the hotel is the elevators. We had a room on the 7th floor and ended up using the stairs more than the elevators. We stayed Friday-Sunday,and one of the elevators broke down Saturday evening and wasn't fixed on Sunday at noon. The elevators are VERY slow so you end up wasting a lot of time waiting. The carpet in our room was very old and needs to be replaced.

Better than we expected
We took a day trip to Chicago, and picked this hotel based on its proximity to the Navy Pier and price. From looking at the building's picture, we thought that the hotel may be outdated. It wasn't. The room was very nice, and the bed was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly. It had plugs on the night stands for our phone chargers. Location was close enough to walk to several restaurants. Also, the Drumbar is on the roof of the building. Although we didn't get a chance to go, it was an added feature for the hotel. There were a few minor disappointments. The elevators were small and one wasn't working. However, the staff would let people use the service elevator to help get people to their rooms. You can valet park at the hotel or walk a couple of blocks to the self-park which also has a valet. Either parking was expensive and was an additional expense we weren't prepared for. The A/C in our room was OK. We cranked it very low, left for 8 hours, and when we got back, the room was cool, but not where we expected. Also, there were coffee mugs and coffee, but no coffee pot. I don't know if this was an oversight or if you have to request them to bring one up. We didn't bother finding out. However, these really were minor, and didn't diminish from how nice the hotel and room were. We would definitely consider choosing this place again.
