A nice place but we had issues.
The location is great on the lake and the place looks nice. However, there were some issues we weren't happy with. The patio door wouldn't look so we barricaded it with the table. The doors were all very squeaky. There was a dirty towel from the previous guest hanging in the bathroom. A big dead bug in the bathtub. The 'breakfast' was yogurt and fruit.

Really enjoyed our stay
Our first visit here was wonderful and in line with many other reviews. My only negative comment is that the bedroom curtains were not black out. It was too light for me to sleep in. Other than that, it was clean, comfortable, quiet and the closest thing to a resort visit I have experienced. We ate at the Getaway next door, a new restaurant on the water with excellent food. My husband had fun birding nearby, and I had fun exploring at the nearby Pesche Garden Center.

Romantic weekend getaway
We had a lovely stay. We were greeted in the lobby by Eric. Thanks, Eric, for your warm welcome and brief history of the French Country Inn and excellent recommendations to The Candle Mercantile and to Papa's Blue Spruce for a delicious burger with dill. Free bottled water, juice, and hot drinks in the lobby and coupons for a discounted breakfast were a nice addition. We would have loved to use the kayaks and paddleboards, but the weather was too cold and windy. We really enjoyed the vintage feel, fireplace, and balcony.

Location was nice, but property did seem a bit dated. My wife and I were under impression that it would be a hot sit down breakfast. Instead their was a baggie for fruit yogurt, liquids to take. Being Friday, most places close too early- 10PM including the onsite restaurant.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the French Country Inn. The room was clean and they added nice touches, such as beautiful flowers and rose petals. The staff was very friendly. Would definitely recommend dining at their restaurant The Getaway. It'll be nice when they start offering a hot breakfast, but the cold breakfast was still nice.
