A little more expensive, but fine for an overnight
It ended up being a bit more expensive than we'd anticipated with the pay internet (that was extremely slow) and parking lot, but the hotel itself was very clean and nice. Sauna was very enjoyable, and bed was very comfortable. I'm not sure if I'd stay again, but it was perfectly fine.

Mercure Hotel on The Terrace
I selected the Mercure Hotel on The Terrace based on my previous experiences with Mercure hotels. I was slightly disappointed because as many reviews that I read said the place was dated. And it is. Some stuff is old and needs refurbishing. The room was relatively small but very quiet. Important to note the location is not bad. We were able to walk most places that we wanted to go or easily catch a bus around Wellington. The breakfast is a great value. The dining room are plenty of windows and offers a view of Wellington The staff helpful. I think the value pricing makes it a great place to stay if you are heading out to see the sights. The Mercure is also located close to Cuba Street where there are lots of eateries to check out. I would stay there again because the Mercure Hotel on The Terrace met our needs for our holiday.

Windy Wellington lives up to its reputation!
Decent hotel, pricey but decent. Pool was not working our entire stay and when we did some laundry the dryer took forever to dry the clothes. The hotel is pretty close (within walking distance) to Cuba street and the CBD. The city is Very windy and the weather can be unpredictable. I doubt we would stay here again, I would rather try another hotel.

The property is a very old building. Definitely needs to be renovated. The bathroom fittings are all old which adds to the old feel.wifi is horrible, you don't even get signals even when you are around the reception area. This property shows that Mercure can also have such disastrous hotels under them. The only positive side of this property is their people at reception, restaurant & house keeping etc.
