Our service at reception was great, and the room was very clean and comfortable. We were able to park the car at the hotel a few hours before actual check-in to avoid paying to park elsewhere in the city. The man working at reception also helped us with a bus map, and outlined unsafe areas in the city for us to avoid. Our only real disappointment with our stay was the location. The area is questionable, with the number of homeless people and graffiti on the building. We felt safe in our room but made sure to check in and be back for the night before it got too late.

Good stay in San Francisco
The hotel (more like a motel) is on the fringe of the tenderloin district (lots of unfortunate folks including many homeless) but if you are walking you are only a one block, well lighted stroll to Van Ness Avenue which seems safe. The bed is great, bathroom looks brand new with unit dose coffee maker. The controls on the shower/tub were very complicated and I didn't see the instructions on the wall of the bathroom till after my shower. We had a room on the end of the building and because of that there was mildly annoying street traffic noise but not too bad. For the money in San Francisco we were VERY happy. Only a 10 minute walk to the opera house or symphony hall.

Disgusting
Dirtiest room I’ve ever been in. First stay at a hotel where the room was so bad I have to review it. There were different kinds of stains and chipped paint all over the wall when you first opened the door (most stains looked pretty easy to clean off). Some of the stains even had a light red color almost looking like blood. Used the bathroom when I first got there and noticed the toilets weren’t even properly cleaned. Literally still little fecal matter around the bowl from the guest before. Then I notice that there is a dried up puddle of throw up in the shower that I guess the maid thought she didn’t have to clean either. We ran hot water over it which did nothing to the stain. I called to the front desk to ask if they could come up to clean the bathroom explaining there was a throw up stain in the tub. They said that the maid(s) had already left for the day and they couldn’t take care of it. They never did anything about it. We only stayed a night, but we definitely did not take a shower there. Stains on some of the sheets as well. Wouldn’t even care about the weird smell or all the beat up furniture, if the room wasn’t as filthy as it was. Funny thing is I picked the hotel because they had decent cleanliness rating for the price, but that was by far the dirtiest hotel room I’ve ever been in. I still haven’t listed everything that was wrong in this room in this entire post.

Stayed here for the marathon.
Definitely in a shady spot in the city, and the parking lot is TINY. But the room was very clean and the people at the desk were very friendly and accommodating. Close to several bus stops.

Good hotel, but in Tenderloin
As others have said, it’s a good hotel, but it’s in the Tenderloin. Doors open to the parking lot.
