Check out this historic hotel, but don't stay!
This is nearly the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. Bullets give it to you short & sweet: * Keys card reader on door did not work * No HEAT unless the outside temp is less than 45F!!!! * No AC unless the outside temp is over 80F * Rooms are noisy and there is lots of police activity outside the hotel I FROZE!! It was in the 50s and the hotel refused to turn on the heat. I asked for a space heater, and they provided me with two extra blankets. When you check in, they hand you a card that says their heating and AC are very old and they won't turn on the heat unless the temp outside drops below 45 and will not turn on the AC unless the outside temp is over 80. The temp in my room was 60F and I could do nothing to raise the temp. 60F is cold enough to induce hypothermia in a person that is not in some sort of thermal clothing (look it up). Service was poor -- I was there for a seminar and they could not tell me the location of the reception, nor the seminar within the hotel. I found them by wandering. Lines to check in/out were busy, and the one elevator was slow and cramped. During my stay, the view of the Alamo was great; however, every evening brought drunk people and cops arresting drunk people. Two women were arrested for prostitution right below my window and screamed at police for nearly an hour until they were hauled away. This is one of the more expensive hotels on the riverwalk. Will save my money and do LaQuinta next time!!

New Year Outting
My husband and I wanted a fun night out without hundreds of thousands of people around. Enjoy a great dinner and take in a little entertainment. We got just that! Dinner in the hotel was excellent. I had lamb and he had the steak, both were prepared just as we asked - medium - not well. We moved on to the hotel bar and then a few spots within walking distance. We always felt safe and part of the community. It's also great that we were only one (1) block from the Alamo. The courtyard area was beautiful also. Very relaxing!

I booked the room because hotels.com said there was shuttle service from the airport- just note that there is NOT a free shuttle service and it was an hour+ wait so just be prepared for that or take an uber. Other than that all the employees were extremely friendly and the hotel is beautiful. Awesome location for walking, shopping, and any type of food you want. The hotel restaurant was very upscale and delicious with very comparable prices to the other places on the riverwalk. Can't wait to visit again!
