Slightly disappointed with dated feel to hotel
We booked the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront for our final night in Vancouver following a cruise. I chose this hotel for its location and reviews but I have to say for the top end rates charged, we felt this hotel was quite tired in decor and facilities for what was believed to be a top end downtown hotel. We had a king bed harbour view room but the bedroom furniture and decor was tired and the balcony doors and screens were too. It was also complicated getting the shower in the bathroom to work but managed to work it out eventually and the room was clean in general. All staff were friendly and helpful and the included breakfast was very good. However, upon checkout I discovered a new government tax had been introduced after I’d booked this room which I wasn’t aware of, namely a ‘major event tax’ of 2.5% which apparently goes towards the funding of major events in the country i.e. the Olympics etc. This was a surprise which added to the cost of the stay so for me, it’s the ‘dated’ feel of this hotel for the high rate paid just for one night along with the new ‘major event tax’ which prompts this review.

Location was awesome ! Beds were lumpy and very uncomfortable. Gift shop was closed majority of the time .. no room service . Smoke detector on level 15 kept going off . Would get reset then a hour later goes off again . Won’t be staying here again
