Joy-riding valet damaged my rental car
There is no choice but to use their valet or park off property. The first night the valet took my rental car out for a drive. I ended up with a rock chip in my rental car's window. Their insurance refused to pay the claim and now I'm stuck buying Enterprise a windshield for a brand new car. Absolutely will not stay here again.

Not great staff
I booked a room with two queen beds and was told that wasn't an option when I checked in. The woman at the front desk assured me there wouldn't be an added charge, to which I replied that I would hope not as this was their mistake. I would have been fine with the mix up had the woman had even a modicum of empathy or had been properly trained to not insult a guest while under serving them. Later that night my friend went to the front desk to buy bottles of water and the man attempted to short change her and when she pointed that out he made a face and gave her the rest of her money while the security guard laughed (this is obviously not the first time they've pulled this stunt on unsuspecting guests who have assumed this is a safe place to stay). The building itself is well cared for and clean, but the staff is so shady I'd never stay here again.

The hotel itself was great - very new, clean, and the staff were super helpful and polite. My issues started when I stepped foot off their property. The hotel appears to be in what would be considered a good neighborhood, right in the historic district and close to the convention center. The problem is that there are so many homeless people in the area that it makes for unsafe conditions if you are walking - day or night. I was in Austin for a four day conference and during that time, I was approached at least once a day by someone looking for a handout. That's bad enough, but some were extremely aggressive - to the point of my own discomfort and concern for my own well being. Not a good experience for the city of Austin. I hope to never have to return there!

Potpourri needed
Wonderful place but first room stunk like a dog and had wet spots in carpet. Moved to 2nd room... no wet spots but also had animal smell. My allergies acted up.
