Staff was very pleasant, this is not a new property but you could see they are refreshing it with new paint & upkeep. Breakfast area was very large, clean with a good verity. Room was clean, parking was good.

Place is awful!
The room was dirty. The sheets looked like they hadn't been changed from the previous guests. They had no wash clothes, we had to use hand towels. The refrigerator only had one shelf in it. The room smelled, we had to buy air freshener. The guests/live ins on either side of us were loud. Our reservation was mixed up when we got there. We will not be staying here again.

Run down, disorganized staff, bad food
This wasn't a pleasant stay for us. We are pretty low-maintenance travelers and usually choose to stay in a budget hotel since we spend most of the day exploring the area. However, the Days Inn did not meet our low expectations. First of all, the staff seemed annoyed that they had to help us (I think the girl who checked us in was 15 or 16 years old). We were given a room key that worked for the first night, but not the rest of the stay. When we went to report it, we were told we were not staying in the correct room. Seems strange, since it did work the first night. The first night it also appeared that someone was trying to get into our room in the middle of the night, but was unsuccessful, so I wonder if they gave out the room to two different reservations. The room was old, with several broken tiles in the bathroom, stains on the carpet, and stains on the bedding. It was the sort of room that you can't take your socks off in, and you sleep fully clothed. Maybe we were given a room that was "off limits" due to needing repairs and upkeep, which is why the key didn't work. We were not offered another room, but they activated the key so we could sleep. The breakfast was terrible, even for a hotel continental breakfast (you had to microwave your own omelet from a frozen state). There was a man who appeared to make his home out of the lounge chair at the pool. The only redeeming quality is how close this is to Colonial Williamsburg (we were able to walk there).

Good for a weekend stay.
Stayed here many times in the past. The rooms are beginning to show their age, (I.E.- one room lamp did not work, the comforter was ripped in few locations, the bathroom tiles shoes grim). The close location to Merchants Square and W&M campus coupled with price is why I stay. The staff is polite and willing to give advice on what to do and where to eat. While not fancy the complimentary breakfast is appreciated and shows an effort many places do not. Overall it is a good place for a short stay if you are willing to overlook a few minor deficiencies.
