Thavorn Palm Beach Resort Phuket, Phuket

Beautiful property with an excellent location. Food was just ok except for the Thai restaurant, it was excellent. Can’t say that for the pool food or breakfast buffet. Rooms were spacious but run down. In need of some updating in the rooms. Hard beds, old furniture and in need of paint and caulking in the bathroom. Clean though. All in all it was a good stay.

Not worth to try at this level of price

1. Not 5-star suggested by Hotel.com. Nowhere close to the pictures shown. Hotel is old and needs serious renovation in order to charge this price. It's not difficult to find the same quality next door at lower price 2. Construction around main pool during peak season - we wouldn't have booked it if we knew. Given it's December while hotel charged highest of the year, hotel decided to do construction everyday during our stay. Sadly, hotel's trying to disturb tourists while sunbathing 3. No IDD - receptionist suggested no long distance call in room while we inquired the detail. We're requested to make the call in the reception area in order for them to time it and know how much to charge us 4. Poor service at Blue Haven Bar. There's a sign "Snack" and ones would expect it's complementary. By the minute we got the snack to our table, the server took away our food saying we couldn't have it. After a while, we noticed that some others took the snack too but not with the same treatment. We didn't understand the service level 5. Noise went thru the electronic plug in the room from next door 6. Housekeeper line is always busy 7. Hotel doesn't understand the "Do Not Disturb" sign. Housekeeper knocked our door requesting us to check out

Everything was great during our stay, except one of the front desk staff, had the wrong information about their events and promotions. The rest of the staff was supreme during our stay.

We booked a superior room with no view. We just didn't expect to have a view of the green concrete wall and run-down buildings nearby. I think building or adding a trellis would keep better with the appearance of the rest of the resort. The grounds were beautiful. The staff members were great and friendly. We enjoyed meeting Oscar, the tortoise. There should be a sign stating "Do not pick up the tortoise". I felt bad for the caretaker, as he tried to tell many of the guests not to, I tried to help as well, but some people just don't listen. Our room was basic and comfortable enough. Maybe my review would be different if we stayed in a better room, but for the price we paid, we expected a little better
