    Awesome place awesome stay.
Check-in was really nice. The people were friendly and help was provided as soon as we entered the hotel. The room was very clean and luxurious.

    Very Good8.0
    Good proximity, no fitness center
The hotel is well-situated, near the center of the city, so it is easy to travel for meetings. My main issues were (1) there is no gym, which is not acceptable for a hotel of this size; (2) the better restaurants were in another tower that was a ten minute walk away; and (3) the rooms could use some renovation -- not that they weren't clean, but they don't seem to have been touched in 30 years in terms of refurnishing or decoration.

Tokyo Prince Hotel — inflexible customer service
If you've ever stayed in a hotel in Japan, you're not surprised when you come across the "You can have it _our_ way" approach to customer service. Rigid. Inflexible. Upon checking in at the Tokyo Prince, I requested e a late checkout at 12pm instead of 11am. The staff person, who had a “can-do” attitude up until that point then checked with her supervisor, then a manager, etc. When she came back, she was apologetic and said that they would not be able to offer a late checkout…without charging me for it. Another 1600 yen on top of the 23,000 yen that the room cost isn’t that much, but it leaves a bad taste. Not customer friendly. At the same time, I have stayed at many hotels in Japan where they do offer late checkouts as a courtesy. What else? Controls for the air conditioning in the room didn’t work. And no fitness facilities on the premises. (Btw, there is a Gold’s Gym near Hamamatsucho Station — about a 10 min walk away — and you can get a 2-week guest membership for 6,000 yen. Excellent workout facilities.) In the Hamamatsucho/Shiodome area, other hotels in the same price range but that consistently deliver an excellent experience include: - Prince Park Tower (located just a 5-minute walk away from the Tokyo Prince) is an absolute pleasure for a short or long stay. More of a boutique feel to it. They also have a good fitness center in the hotel. - Royal Park Hotel in Shiodome is another gem that is a personal favorite.
