Overbooked and bumped although I had a reservation
The hotel was being renovated and the hallway walls were ripped. There was a chemical smell in the room which was perhaps related to the remodel. The hotel was overbooked and I was bumped even though I had a reservation. They told me that there were no rooms available and that I had to share a suite with a colleague who had a separate reservation directly with the hotel. The WiFi didn't work in the room either. The morning staff wad helpful and tried to sort out the mess created by the check-in staff the night before. It is still not completely resolved. On the plus side, the breakfast was very good.

Horrible stay
STAY AWAY. False advertisement. $200+ a night to stay on a floor with major construction going on everyday from 9-4PM with Jackhammers shaking the entire hotel. Checked into this hotel on Monday 4/9 and the front desk had notified us that there was "renovation" going on the 7th floor where they had an available room (wish I would have known that before we booked this room for $200+/night). I told them I would be on work calls all day in the hotel room and requested a room farthest away from the construction. They said room 830 was also available and would be the farthest away from the construction. Room 830 just so happened to be right in the middle of the construction zone with the entire floor being ripped apart. On Tuesday 4/10 at 9:30AM I was on a work call and could hear nothing but banging and hammering coming from the room directly to my left and below. The noise was so loud that I had to cancel a work call and take the rest of my calls for the next couple of days outside of the hotel where it was 50 degrees outside. I checked out Weds 4/11 and there was literally painters tape all around the outside of my room's door and windows along with construction workers standing around blocking the guest elevator.

It was very nice however, asking for an early check-in seemed to be a little bit of a problem. Asking to pay $25 was ridiculous and policy needs to be changed. Since we arrived at 3:30 and called before made it pretty clear that we needed the room earlier then the regular check in time. :(

Great Customer Service
Overall stay was pleasant and the location was great for our needs. The hotel is nice and the staff are friendly and attentive. Our only disappointment was that our room was very close to the BART rail and had a window that would not open to allow for fresh air, nor would we have been able to due to the noise of the rail. That being said the triple pane window kept the noise out. When we talked to a female desk attendedant, she tried to relocate us to another room, however, there were non available. We had booked 2 separate reservations for the that week as we stayed at another hotel for 1 night. As promised, on our return visit at the end of the week, she had found us another room, with an opening window away from the rail. She went out of her way to make sure we had a room that was just as we had booked and with an opening window. We appreciate how each of staff addressed our questions, concerns and needs with kindness, respect and a willingness to serve the guests well.

Overall the stay met our needs for both business and pleasure very well. The hotels proximity to the BART and restaurants was fantastic. The breakfast included was good but after a weeks stay it would have been nice to a few additional items to chose from. I would have to say the internet service was disappointing, although the staff did all that they could to offer better options during our stay. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs and concerns during our visit. Our room was kept clean. Unfortunately, there was some construction noise on 1 of the days we were present at the hotel due to illness and it made it hard to rest. Overall the hotel is lovely. If I were to give a suggestion, it would be that the staff should frequent the floors more often to clean up spills and room service trash left outside the guestrooms.
