ibis Brussels off Grand Place, Brussels
staff gave awesome local dinner recommendations. they were also incredibly friendly and welcoming. the room, though, was basic and somewhat uncomfortable. the room became infested with mosquitoes one night which made sleeping somewhat difficult. staff owned up to this being a problem. breakfast was excellent. but location was a bit far from the center of town and most tourist spots. although it was a satisfactory place, i wouldn't stay again if i returned to antwerp.

Great location & staff, but would def not return
Stayed one night at the Ibis off of Grand Place - it was basically a layover from Paris back home to NY. I knew going in that it was more of a budget hotel, but I was still fairly disappointed. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent - about a 3 minute walk to Grand Place. Unfortunately the negatives far outweighed the positives. - the room was dirty (dust and cobwebs all over the wall and ceilings) - both squeeze bottles of soap/shampoo/body wash were completely empty - bath towels were as thin as paper towels, and no hand towels were provided - the WiFi, while free, was terrible - no outlets by the bed - walls are RAZOR thin - I didn’t get more than an hours worth of sleep due to the noise coming from above us, next door, the hallway, outside, it was terrible - superficially, the rooms are horribly depressing. The paint job, the popcorn walls, lack of any sort of decor....I know that this keeps costs down, but I would have been miserable spending more than a night there If you’re looking for a bare bones, budget hotel (basically a small step above a hostel) in an excellent location, then the Ibis hotel is a great option, but be very aware of what you’re in store for.
