Nice UWS hotel
The Lucerne was lovely. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of wine. Our suite was perfect for our family of 2 adults and a teenager.

Loyal Customers Are Not Valued by The Lucerne
I have been staying at The Lucerne for one to five nights a year for at least the past seven years. I never minded that it was out of the way, in a sleepy part of the city that never sleeps. I recommended it to friends and came to know the bellmen after seeing them year after year. It was a place very close to my heart after so many years of happy memories there with my family. Sadly, loyalty is not always mutual. I made a reservation to stay on Sunday, 15 December 2019 and then realized that I would have to reschedule for the following week. After so many years as a loyal customer, I was a few hours late in changing my reservation and requested that they accommodate me. I did not even receive the courtesy of a response for 36 hours! Then I was shocked to learn that The Lucerne plans to charge me for the stay, even though I never used the room. They may be within their rights to do so, but this pettiness on their part speaks volumes about how their customer service has plummeted. Clearly they do not value their most loyal customers. The night I needed to reschedule was one of their value nights, so the amount of money in dispute is not the sticking point. It is the fact that they could not extend me the smallest courtesy. tried to intervene on my bahalf, but was ineffective, even though I am a Gold Member. It is all very disconcerting, to know how little my business is appreciated.

Great location and comfortable hotel
Lovely older property with great attached restaurant. I would definitely recommend this property, but feel compelled to add that attention to service details is somewhat lax: Had to request that bed linens be refreshed; Last evening there was only one bath towel, no bath mat...phoned and two bath towels were delivered (standard would have been four) A wine reception from 4-5pm each evening...literally, just wine and on Friday evening the closed at 4:40 because they "ran out of wine"...seems with a restaurant and stores near by management could have seen this coming. When I stated my disapproval I was told that when the delivery arrived (it was late, a bottle would be sent to my room). A bottle arrived at 9:50pm that evening. Left with the impression that management is focused on cost control, to the extent they would step over a dollar to save a penny.
