Not as expected
The property is actually very run down. The room was sufficient and beds were comfortable. I was not a fan of the layout of the elevators (not to mention the I thought it was a service elevator at first). There was a "creepy" shed outside of the building and the door that was supposed to be accessed by key was usually already open (safety hazard). I would not stay there again.

Terrible Hotel Service, Better Options Than This
The man who checked us in was very rude and condescending to us. We waited as he helped the person in front of us and was very polite and offered a complimentary cookie given to everyone at check-in, however, once it was our turn to talk to him, it was as if I were witnessing Jekyll and Hyde. Once attaining our room keys, we proceeded to our room where the air conditioner was blasting and the buttons on the heater were broken so we called the front desk of which another man answered the phone who after lengthy conversation of what was wrong, came to our room to fix the issue. Once in the room, he started bickering with my mother who suggested they put a note on the air conditioner to show that there is a different place to adjust everything. Where a suggestion was given and could've been taken as a "I will suggest that", he instead decided to tell us that people should just have the common sense to look around and see that there's the thermostat on the wall. This led to us feeling insulted by this employee and he left with an attitude from our room. Needless to say, there are other hotels in Ann Arbor that are much nicer and for the same price on Hotels.com. So, avoid this place for the terrible customer service that you will receive and save yourself the trouble of dealing with angry men who feel the need to take their stress out on guests.

Wife had surgery at U of M Ann Arbor and I called asking for ground floor close to room, they provide a room at the end of the hall not 50 feet from my parking spot. It’s often the little things that mean so much to a customer. Room was clean and updated and the staff was truly helpful ( not just saying that because of the warm chocolate chip cookies they gave me at check in) Price was very good however I did discover that if your stay is related to family members treatment at U of M and you book through hotel directly there is a sizable discount available. Again staff couldn’t have treated us any better and i would recommend it highly.
