10/10 Exceptional
18 September 2019
I had a lovely restful 3 night stay at this guest house. The on-site staff have limited English, but when I arrived there was an English speaker waiting to help me. I was invited to several things including a BBQ and going out on a boat to see the sunset, which I didn't end up doing because I was doing my own thing - but really appreciated the offer. The location is not close to the main harbour (where the majority of restaurants, etc are), but close to several of the beauty spots, and a small beach which provided me with several snorkeling encounters with Sea Turtles! (the reason i'd come to the island) It was so peaceful and just what I needed from this trip. The guest house provides simple breakfast ordered in from local places, which included two drinks and two items - simple common Taiwanese fare - a Rice dumpling and a pork bun, which i'd keep for an easy lunch. If you're coming to the island, you're likely going to rent a motorbike or electric scooter, which given the size of the island makes the location no problem at all. They provided me with information about a good company to rent scooters from who pick you up from the harbour on arrival and drop you back off when you return the bike. The bed was SO comfortable - have experienced very hard beds elsewhere in Taiwan, so this was great. The only minor downside is that the strength of the WiFi was not very good, and within the room my cellphone coverage also dropped. If I return to XiaoLiuQiu, I would stay here again
