About Die Port van Cleve Hotel, Amsterdam

Amsterdam hotel in former Heineken brewery with free WiFi

Steps from the tram

Opening as the first Heineken brewery in 1864, Die Port van Cleve Hotel sits near the Singel Canal and on the main thoroughfare Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. There's a tram station within steps, while the main railway hub Centraal Station is a 3-minute taxi ride.

Next to the Royal Palace

The Royal Palace is half a block south, and it's a 3-minute stroll to Dam Square and flagship department store De Bijenkorf. Once a 15th-century church, and located across the street from the hotel, De Nieuwe Kerk is now a venue for royal weddings and concerts.

Bar and 2 restaurants

Founded by two brothers, the Hulscher's steakhouse specializes in meat and fish dishes, all prepared with homemade ingredients. You can sip a cold bottle of beer in the Bar De Blauwe Parade, or inquire at the 24-hour front desk about nearby bicycle rentals.

Decorated in Delft tiles

Blue Delft tiles and Dutch motifs feature throughout the 122 air-conditioned guestrooms, and flat-screen TVs provide entertainment. There's free WiFi to keep you connected, and laptop-compatible safes are an added convenience. Select rooms have special views.

Nice Place to stay
Nicely kept hotel with helpful staff. Room was clean and beds/pillows comfortable. Better ventilation would be helpful in room. The renovation work during our stay will bring place to the top.

Great location, small room
Hotel location is great. Maybe less than 10 minutes from Central Station. You just have to cross the street and you were in Dam square..Shopping cafés and entertainment was easily where I found issue was on the size of the room which I would have noticed if I had read the room information. I guess it’s a standard room for the area. The lighting was very poor as the window that we had was opening into a central garden with little to no privacy if the curtain was left open. Bad it was a bit stiff for my personal choice as I love soft beds. Based on location I would pick this place again but knowing how particular I am about my sleeping I would choose something different

Excellent place to stay and see the city.
The hotel is In the perfect location for a stay in Amsterdam. Walking distance from central station. It is steps away from the Dam Square and there is lots of shopping available and many, many cafes, The hotel is very culturally Dutch and does have a real old time brown cafe and restaurant on the 1st floor. The lobby is being updated so entry is via the bar, The reception is well named with staff. They are helpful and wonderfully kind. Dylan was so receptive and got us registered with an upgrade plus free evening drinks and added a complimentary coffee and croissant for breakfast. (The best croissant ever) Just loved staying here and will book again. A practical, comfortable place to rest after a day of strolling around the historical center and museums.
