Great hotel. Poor service.
The employee who checked us in on the front desk was extremely rude and condescending. I am not sure if it is because me and my family are of Asian descent (she is too), but it felt like racial bias was contributing to the unpleasant interaction. Her facial expressions, body language, and gestures makes me, the paying customer, felt like an idiot. She was impatient with my questions and my lack of knowledge of Vancouver. When I tried to get her name to report to the manager she deliberately covered her name tag with her arms. The interaction was unprofessiona and unpleasant enough that I for sure would not consider coming back.

Ideal, but noisy location
Staff was courteous. Room was clean. The location of this hotel was great. It's across the street from a 24/7 drug store and Tim Horton's and a few restaurants. A block and a half away from a Starbucks. A healthy cafe called Chef's Harvest that served smoothies and sandwiches was close by. When I booked this hotel, I thought it was a great idea since close by (1.5 blocks away) was Vancouver's General Hospital. What I didn't realize was that because we are near a hospital, I forgot about how loud the sirens are from the ambulances that passed thru a few times at night. Also, the walls and doors seemed thin cause I can hear guests from the hallway. I can hear them when they leave their room cause it seemed as if they were slamming their doors shut. The noise from the traffic was loud when our balcony door was open. The noise didn't bother my kids. They slept thru the noise. The view from our 4th floor balcony was great. Our room had a microwave and a mini fridge which was convenient. I should've been more diligent in asking exactly what size is considered a "double bed." It turns out a double bed is a full size bed. We're used to sleeping in a king size bed because my husband likes to sleep all spread out so a double bed was small for our needs. I'm thankful that this hotel accommodated my family of 5 in 1 room. It helped save us money so we were able to stay longer so we can tour more of Vancouver.

Fantastic stay! front of the house were very friendly and helpful, gave us a great room with unbelieving views. The hotel was very close to public transportation and very clean.

Never again here.
Not a great experience. Most people at the information desk are rude and adamant. Room is too old and one can see the bathtub dirty and at places the veneer is gone. Carpet not sure when was last shampooed. Bathroom floor is too dirty to step in. Parking alley is with uncontrolled traffic and ugly.

Clean, small, walk to Granville, drive elsewhere
The hotel is a good location to explore downtown if you plan to drive. It was not easy to access the sky train but we could have probably done buses to connect but when I asked the lady at the desk she implied that driving would definitely be the better choice. The room was small as you expect when land is expensive. I was really grateful for the parking but was glad the we had not brought our bikes with rear rack as the spots are really tight for our Honda minivan. However there was not a issue with top clearance for our top carrier as there was tons of height room. The neighborhood between the hotel and Granville island seemed safe.
