Always listen to your first mind
I had a feeling this would be a vacation ruining stay and they came pretty close. This was one of the most difficult hotel stays I've had in a long time. The staff is hit or miss. You get really great people or someone who makes you want to grab your bags and storm out. The beds are bricks! Had it not been the holiday weekend and such a hard time to switch hotels and get my money back I would have left immediately. You have to drag your luggage through the restaurant and most of the women who work there are by far not the friendliest. It's as if they charge them to smile or acknowledge you. We refused to eat downstairs because we were so uncomfortable. But then there were a couple people who were the nicest people you could come into contact. They seemed out of place.

The location is great, and front desk folks were awesome. Mine and my daughter's first trip to Miami so maybe the small room size is the norm, but it definitely is not what I'm used to. When you add in the two free drinks per day and the cafe discount and free breakfast, and the location I suppose the price tag is reasonable. However, we literally checked in 5 minutes before the end of happy hour and, because of the very strict cutoff, didn't rectour 2nd drink, could have been more accommodating to a paying guest. And unfortunately I didn't remember to ask for the discount at dinner, but we did have on the plastic wristbands we we're given on check-in to indicate that we were guests in the hotel. That cost me about $20. Anyway, overall a nice place for sure.

Small business owner
Stay away from doing business with this Hotel. Tried to cancel / change dates 3 days before reservations. Hotel said no. Asked to talk to a manager on 2 different days, they never called back. Hotels that treat customers this poorly, do not deserve anyones business. If our company had the same attitude, we would have been out of business years ago.

Would be great if it wasn't so loud
The good: Fantastic location on Ocean Drive. Gorgeous quirky restored 1950s rooms with tons of charm. Our suite is enormous, with sweeping views of the beach. Mandatory resort fee, while annoying, includes beach towels, water in the minifridge, a surprisingly OK breakfast, and 2 drinks at happy hour. Now for the bad. It's LOUD. And not just a little bit of street noise. I'm writing this at 1030 PM on Sunday night, when I have to be up in just a few hours to check out and get on with my life. It's raining outside and Ocean Drive is dead. But the bar under my room has the music cranked up so loud that I can feel the bass through the coffee table. I can pretty much guarantee the restaurant is empty, but the staff crank the tunes when they get in at 9 AM and they don't turn them off until the wee hours. I can hear the music over the TV. I can feel the music in bed. We've only been able to sleep at all by turning on the (very loud) ceiling fans to full blast, but then we wake up freezing. Besides the noise, the restaurant takes up all of the space in the lobby and front of the hotel that might otherwise be used for lounging. So there's nowhere at all outside of your room to spend time. There's no pool. No courtyard. No lobby. No roof deck. Which means on a day like this, when it's been raining off and on all day, that you're confined to your room. There are other minor issues, but I'm out of space. Verdict: stay elsewhere.
