This quaint property is steps away from the plaza & Barcelona Cathedral. We loved the location. Many shops & restaurants are within walking distance; it was easy to walk to the waterfront & aquarium. Always some activity happening in the plaza: music, dancing, acrobats...We were there for Sant Roc Festival, so there were many more events & fireworks. The area is busy & noisy evenings, so if you want silence, this would not be good, unless there was a room opposite the plaza. All individuals of the hotel staff are very friendly, polite, helpful, and very quick to resolve a problem. (Example, our room safe wouldn't open one day, and a technician came in less than 10 minutes to reset it). The continental breakfast for 7.50 Euros offered delicious coffee, hot milk (loved it with the coffee!), tea, juices, granola, muesli, other cold cereal, fruit, croissants, bread for toast, cheese, ham, turkey slices, plain & fruit yogurt. The rooms are very comfortable with enough drawers & closet space. Our room had a small refrigerator & a/c, and we got upgraded to a room with terrace. One thing my husband loved about this hotel, which is so different from the U.S. hotels that we've stayed in is the key. The room key is on a bronze plaque with the room number. When you go out you leave your key at the reception desk (which is staffed 24 hours), come back & say your room #. We loved this hotel!

Great location, move if you're next to the Hostel
Not much in the way of sleep due to the location. The hotel is situated right next to a hostel and there was a lot of noise coming from there until the early hours. Then the rubbish collectors would go round about 02:00 and collect all the rubbish that had accumulated from the day/night so getting a food nights sleep was virtually impossible. Great location of the hotel, and the bars and restaurants around it are brilliant. Shopping is also on your door stop as is the cathedral. 35 euros from the airport and about the same to the camp nou. Beach was about 20 minutes walking distance, La Rambla was about 5 minutes. Brilliant in terms of location, and for a flying weekend visit, not so good for a good nights sleep or longer than a weekend.

5 days and nights in Barcelona
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Regencia Colon. It is located right in the middle of everything it seems. It is a short walk from the Jaume1 metro station and just off the Cathedral square. We enjoyed two great restaurants, one just west of the hotel and the other just north of the hotel. In Barcelona there are lots of other options. It is near the City market, museums and the beaches are a walkable distance. The desk staff is great. We had the fastest checkin ever and staff were there to answer questions 25/7. The room was charming and easy to relax in. The breakfasts were good with a selection of cereals, fruits, sliced meats, cheese and toast. It could be improved with some boiled eggs. There are some services available in the Colon next door such as a restaurant (with a discount on food) and the rooftop lounge. We met some very interesting visitors at that bar from all over the world. Some noise from the square should be expected on weekends but it depends on your room location.

Great location, polite staff, nice rooms
My partner and I stayed here from June 2-5, 2018. The hotel is located in the Gothic Quarter and as well as windows overlooking the street, there was a little window above our television that gave us a direct view of Barcelona Cathedral. The room was spacious and clean with plenty of storage space. Staff were polite and attentive and the desk was always manned when we needed to access our room key. The room was a nice temperature at all times, which was nice after exploring the city on foot. The location is great, and we managed to walk to most of the sights that we were keen to see on our short trip, although the hotel is also walking distance from several metro stops, including the one we used when arriving from the airport, Urquinaona, and Jaume I. The hotel is also close to many great restaurants (I'd definitely recommend going to Arcano) and tapas bars. We didn't have any problem with noise as I'd read in other reviews, but we're not particularly light sleepers. Would definitely recommend it and would stay again.

Needs Updating
I wouldn't recommend this place personally because I'm a fairly light sleeper and I was only able to manage a couple of hours sleep given the noise and room temperature. Walls are thin and the street noise is louder than I care for. I don't sleep well when the room is warm and because this hotel is older, you cannot adjust the temperature in your room independently from the entire hotel and I found the whole place to be a little warm for my comfort. I woke up sweating several times and the street was too noisy to crack the window. I also felt the bedding was poor. The rooms are a bit dated but the location is perfect and the hotel is very affordable relative to others in the area. Staff is very friendly and speak great English if that's a factor for you.
