Murphy beds not comfortable. Standard rooms a
Hotel was booked and we ended up in rooms on the first floor (main floor) with murphy beds. Beds are not as comfortable as standard Westin rooms. Room was okay. If i had not stayed here previously, this room would not have been as disappointing. But given the comparison, I was not impressed.

Adopted the Airline Fee Model
The Westin Kierland used to be one of my favorite hotels. I have stayed here many times. Unfortunately, what was a great hotel is now just ok. The Good: -Great location. Tons of shops and restaurants. Can’t beat it. -Fantastic Staff. Everybody is very friendly. -It’s huge. I haven’t done it, but I’m sure it’s great for conferences. The Not So Good: -They used to have one of the best outdoor patios around. In the evening they have fires, live music, the trees are lit, view of the golf course, stars. It was great. Recently they’ve added a GIANT big screen, jumbotron. The effect is you have the extremely harsh light of the TV. It just spoils it. The great outdoor music and chill atmosphere is gone, replaced by a cheap sports bar feel. -Fees. Holly cow. They have learned from the airlines. It seems every time I return there is a new fee. I’ve never understood how they can justify a resort fee when they charge this much per night. It’s a resort right, you are staying there? Why isn’t it part of the room price? More insulting though is they have recently started charging for parking, self-parking. I get paying for parking in Manhattan, here it’s just a revenue source. The fees just feel like they are trying to milk you for more money. It really is a shame, but I’m going to try some other locations in Scottsdale.

Very Good8.0
Very enjoyable stay, lots to do at the resort, good lobby atmosphere, great location and surrounding area. Only thing that needs improvement is that bathrooms in the rooms. Way too dated - showers too small.

We stayed there 6 years ago the first time. Nothing got improved since then. Overpriced and there is better options for the value in Phx.
