Astor Hotel, Athens
Unfortunately, my friends and I ran into some problems with the hotel. The check-in concierge who helped us was kind, friendly, and attentive; we really had no issues. However, since getting our room we’ve had multiple issues. Our bathroom was filled with mold, and the room had no appropriate ventilation (it was musty and humid). We attempted to open our balcony door, and the handle snapped off, leaving us with no way to ventilate our room or get fresh air. However, our group considered all these grievances small compared to the next one I’m about to bring to your attention. One member of our group fell ill, and needed to be taken to the hospital for medical attention. It was a later hour of the night, and as this was a foreign country, we were having a difficult time finding the appropriate hospital because the concierge working the front desk was trying to explain to us that the hospitals we were finding online were not appropriate for her “diagnosis”, and proceeded to try and diagnose her using terms such as “pathological” or “psychological” or “orthopedic” or “cardiologic.” We also were having trouble looking up hospitals because the hotel’s wifi was so poor, it wouldn’t work consistently, and the concierge was of no help in trying to find an appropriate location to go to. Eventually, we were able to find somewhere to go via our own efforts, and our friend is fine, but it is of major concern that the concierge was inhibiting our ability to get to medical attention.

Normal hotel
Rooms were pretty old. Breakfast was not spectacular as well. Well located though near to Syntagma station. We set-off for a 2 day tour to Delphi and Meteora, and receptionists were not willing to keep our luggage for us in the hotel (mentioned only can keep less than 24 hours) - that was disappointing. Though they eventually relented, helped us store the luggages and mentioned that they couldn't guarantee if anything went wrong with the luggage...

Convenient Location & Great Staff
The Hotel was generally dated, though our room was comfortable with a balcony, bed was good, but bathroom had disappointing hand held tub/shower system. Surrounding area slightly noisy, but it's on a busy street. Staff were really great: friendly to check in and had a 3am 'to go' breakfast for us. Great nightlife areas very close. Really liked this stay.
