Stay far away from this hotel!
We have stayed at this hotel before and had a great experience so we decided to stay again when we were back in the area. This time our stay was awful. We were there 3 nights. The hotel staff was not very friendly at all. In fact, the front desk lady seemed to have a bad attitude. The size of the room and it's amenities were as expected for the price, but it seemed very dirty and out dated. The comforters were dingy and had holes in them. The bathroom had cracks in the walls and the tub was missing tiles. The first night our room did not get cleaned. When trying to call the front desk we discovered their phone system was down. The last night we stayed there as actually a shooting on the 1st floor and 3 people were hospitalized. None of the guests were notified about it or told to stay in their rooms, etc. Our family's life could have been in extreme danger. I found out about it on the news the next day. We will never be staying at this hotel again. It has really gone down in quality over the last 2 years. I suggest you consider a different hotel over this one even if the price is higher. It's not worth the savings.

Very clean, friendly, and cheap
Good. Would stay again due to price and cleanliness and friendliness of staff. Had a few minor issues we chose to overlook. AC unit does not close off outside air so that left indoor air yukky unless you keep it pretty cold. Not terrible though. Restaurant and bar/club seem to be shut down fairly permanently. No breakfast available. Pool looked great and gym looked really good. Parking is all outdoors but free. Have to walk up hill or stairs but you can drive up to door. Non accessible tub/shower has nothing at all to hold onto but wasn't too slippery but ask for accessible room if this could be an issue for you. Clearly was formerly the very upscale Omni Hotel sold to Magnuson. Now they have vending machines welcoming you before you get to the receptionist area. Before long this hotel will look quite run down if they don't redecorate. It's borderline now but worth the low price at this point in time. It was very very clean. Beds were cushy (good) but mattress cupped very badly in middle. Only had very puffy pillows vs giving you one flat one to choose between like other hotels.

Good place to sleep & go (Stayed 4 days )
I have stayed here previously and it was a very nice hotel. It is currently going through renovations and things are not up to par. The Jacuzzi is out of order and the sports bar in the hotel is closed. The discounted rate makes it worthwhile if you just want a place to stay in a great location. If you want to really enjoy your hotel, it is not the place at this time.

My stay in New Port News.
In a non smoking room but the floor had a smokey smell or musky smell. Room was good for the price. Older appliances .
