Hotel with a great potential, disappointing room
This is a difficult review to make. I like the generel hotel feel, the spacious salons and bars and the building is great for a 5* hotel. But I didn’t like my room. It was on the third floor and had only a tiny window so it felt very dark, like being in ‘solitary confinement’. I guess this is the case with all rooms on 3rd floor / the topfloor, from what I could judge when I looked at the Windows from the outside. The hotel appeared in no way to be fully booked so I cannot quite understand why they gave me this ‘room without daylight’. I could have complained about this, and asked for another room, but I very rarely complain, only if the situation is catastrophic. I travel a lot every year and I also have a professional Interest in luxury hotels, so I take the situations as valuable experience. Here I am in doubt, should I return to this hotel? In some areas it can compete with Das Stue and Adlon, but not if compared strictly on my room. Apart from the light issue, the room had no waterboiler for tea or coffee, I could not connect my telephone to any speakers. The bathroom however was perfect. The pool area and gym towards the better end. I found the fashion theme refreshing, very different to most 5* hotels. I can imagine the common areas of the hotel as fabulous in spirit in a period of the Year where there are many guests. The area was great as an alternative to the hectic inner City and it is really not this far away from say the heart of KuDamm.

Very Good 8.0
Amazing hotel and service, but room #50 not great
Beautifully decorated hotel, amazing service by almost all staff members (with the somewhat exception of one dining room waiter, who was never the less corteous and diligent in his duties). However, the state of our room (#50) left a little to be desired: Despite us arriving on 30 December, the room was so over-heated that we had to switch off all heating and leave a window open for more than 24 hours in a row to get the room to a decent temperature; additionally, we felt that a room with several corners and angles really could have used a ceiling lamp to provide sufficient lighting, instead we had several "dark spots" in the room.

Good 6.0
somewhat disappointing
The first room I was offered had dark purple walls, making the entire room very dark and the atmosphere quite lugubrious. I was offered a different room, which was six it acceptable. However all rooms seemed to have rather dim lighting. €50, or AU$100, seems a little excessive as corkage.... staff service however, was always impeccable, but this alone does not make for a satisfactory display

Good 6.0
We checked in well after 8pm as we had a party to go to in Berlin, so we were only going to use the room for a few hours. After checking in we were told to pay an extra amount for our Jack-Russel. I was slightly annoyed at that especially as we were had stayed at the hotel a number of times before, although without the dog. When we reached the room there was a hand-signed welcome note adressed to someone else, sloppy. Nice hotel, shame about the front desk staff who at times were condescending and agumentative, not the type of service one would expect at a hotel that is trying to compete with the likes of the Adlon.

Exceptional 10.0
Luxury Hotel We especially liked the location of the hotel. We were in a lovely neighborhood with embassies and beautiful homes. The neighborhood was quiet yet there was a pastry shop just 10 minutes from the hotel, Walking. If you want to go to the center at city just to ask how to get on the S Bahn. That is a 15 minute walk but you can catch a bus two blocks away and if you have a Berlin card you can ride any bus, S Bahn or underground anytime dependent on the number of days you purchase.
