Dikker & Thijs Hotel, Amsterdam
Good service, facilities a little shabby
Front desk staff was courteous, helpful, and professional. It can be very noisy at night (tram right below the windows rings it’s departure every 15 minutes during peak) so if you’re a light sleeper not the place for you. Rooms were well cared for by maids but decor and furniture looked to be from late 80s to early 90s. A little shabby. Breakfast buffet had nice assortment of fresh breads, eggs, bacon, cereals, juice but not much more. Hoped for a better assortment for the 17 euros.

Disappointing, definitely not 4 Star
If you would like to save time reading lots of reviews please let me warn you that this is exactly the kind of boutique hotel to avoid. I prefer to stick to facts and will do so in short with details as I experienced them. This venue itself and the location are great – however the amenities and service from the staff do not fit hotel description. My first astonishment was with the advertised room service. There was none. Each employee at the hotel will tell you something different with regards to room service. This appears to be an issue with leadership and organization. It didn’t help that the phone in the room didn’t work either. The staff all had different answers for this as well – none of which were helpful. I thought there would be Nespresso in the room as again this was indicated online. It turns out this is a bait-and-switch. It was additionally frustrating to find that bottled water or extra beverages are not available at the hotel after the housekeeping staff has left for the day. Hence I can only describe it as a fake four star hotel, cutting too many corners and a lacking professional management. After four nights of my stay I was finally able to speak with a manager about the room service and coffee issues. She honestly didn’t care to hear anything about it, was very aggressive and even had the nerve to ask me my profession. An experience I do not wish on anyone….book elsewhere!

Fun in Amsterdam
The people at the hotel were nice. Everyone speaks English so you sometimes forget it's not their first language. The property was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect! We were in walking distance from the museum district, more restaurants than we could possibly have tried, the casino and the Amsterdam Hard Rock Café (I had to get a t-shirt). I highly recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay there again.

Loved it! We were given an upper room. The woods beams really made it lovely.
