Dikker & Thijs Hotel, Amsterdam
A delightful stay!
A very pleasant hotel. We upgraded to a canal view, which was lovely, but come 4am when the bars let out, it was quite noisy. Breakfast is terrific, so get that at hotel during your stay. The museum district is in walking distance, and the trolley is right outside the front door. We would definitely return.

Arrived late in the evening but the gentlemen at the front desk was welcoming and gave us a great deal of information for our stay. The room was clean, bed comfortable and you couldn’t hear too much from the busy street below. Walking distance from notable museums, shopping and restaurants. Or you could take a short walk and hop on one of the ferries in the canal to tour the city. I definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying again when we plan another trip!

Location, a double edged sword for this hotel
The hotel location was excellent—an easy walk to the museums (10 minutes) and most other areas of interest (20-30 minute walk). The 397 bus stop was less than 10 minutes from the hotel, and a tram stop was just across from it. However, the location was a mixed blessing in that in the wee hours of the morning there is a constant stream of ill-behaved tourists/students leaving clubs back to their hotels, hooting and yelling for the sake of it and their drunken enjoyment. Not the hotel’s responsibility to manage—even the folks who live there in the city along the canals have learned to contend with the noise—but be advised to bring earplugs if you book any older hotel near nightclub establishments. Otherwise, hotel room was large according to European standards and clean. The day manager was a rather lovely, helpful person, and the rest of the staff was also pleasant as a whole. While there are plenty of places in the area to get coffee/breakfast in the immediate area, aside from a Starbucks, there wasn’t a sit down establishment, so I had breakfast in the hotel. It was sufficient if pricey, but I was paying for the convenience. Overall, I’d recommend the hotel if you bring earplugs.

Nice location, typical hotel
Great location, typical hotel including all the in-room amenities that are common for American travelers. Only complaint is that the walls are very thin, and we were surrounded by very loud guests for our one- night stay. We could clearly hear people talking both through the walls and through the vents in the bathrooms.
