Shady business practices
My issues mainly stemmed around the front desk.Though I paid in full on hotels.com and checked the hotels.com listing and my college website listing (they were hosting my residency) I did not read anywhere about initial fees. Upon I arrival I was tolad there was a $75.00 dollar a day incedentak for each room which would have totaled almost $700.00. I only budgeted $1000.00 for the trip so this was steep. I ended up canceling one of the two rooms to bringit down to $300.00. This was taken out of my account and authorized by my bank but showed as declined by the hotels system. Despite looking ta my bank statement and talking to my banker the hotel staff still stated the amount was declined and they would call their merchant services.Meanwhilethey charged another 31.00 and $75 saying I could not check in that day without the fee even if the room was paid in full and I did not use incidentals. I was told the 31.00 was resort fee after asking.Iwas also never told about this prior to running my card. The front desk staff were not friendly or helpful, just basically shrugged their shoulders. After 24 hours they still had not heard from their merchant and said my $300 did not exist and i was advised to dispute the charge. Meanwhile the $75.00 they did show could not be accessed for incedentals as my account was marked cash only. My bank would take 10 days so that money was meanwhile in the void. Within 24 more hours my card was charged $200.00 more Frustrating. Other staff good.

Not what was expected for a 4 Star Resort.
Air didn’t work right in our room. Parkin is horrendous! If you can’t handle a lot of stairs and a long trek to your car, don’t stay here. The only good thing was the restaurant. We won’t stay again.

Pools were filthy!
My family did our first staycation this past weekend for Father's Day. We chose the Point Tapatillo and stayed with 3 other families. I was very dissatisfied and somewhat annoyed with the pools at Tapatillo Cliffs. The lower half of The Falls was green & cloudy, and full of debris all day on Saturday! Then Sunday we went up to Hidden Pool and it was so cloudy we decided not to get in. We went back to the pool by our room (Bldg 15) and went to that pool, which was also cloudy, although not as bad. However, the hot tub smelled disgusting! We actually left at noon and went home, deciding that our pool was much cleaner and sanitary than what we had paid to swim in at Tapatillo Cliffs. It's summer time, and people choosing to do staycations are there to relax and swim! When the pools aren't nearly up to par, it makes for a pretty expensive stay - for zero reason. I would've rathered stay home & swim, or go to a water park after this experience. The hotel itself is older but was obviously recently remodeled and clean. The beds were ok. The staff was pleasant and attentive. My poor rating is mainly because we went to swim & relax by the pool, and those were all dirty. And that was a real let down for an AZ native's first "staycation."
