I should have slept in my car.
The heyday of this place has long since past. If you like the 30s and 40s this is your place. The bed was well past it's prime and was not comfortable at all. Holes in the walls and doors that I am not sure were real secure. This place needs a complete rework.

I'm was a double room. My bed was hard as the floor. Got looking under the bed there was a big board look like a door between the mattress and the box spring. Clothes had been left behind the television stand, I guess from the previous guest. The tub looked like it really could use some deep scrubbing. I know this was a really old hotel but I know the difference when a tub needs cleaning. And this one needed cleaning. If it wasn't so late and we were so tired we would have asked for another room.

Historic hotel dying.
Hotel was located in the heart of a lot of history. Was fun to explore the places of interest and the unique shops and resturants in the area. The hotel itself had tons of history itself! At one tone it must have been a beautiful building. Unfortunately it is now run down and tho they have a resturant on site no one was there. We ate outside on their street patio and we were only ones there. We were also looking to dine in one of the beautiful historic dining areas and that wasn't open. Lights were on, all tables set, but was stacked with boxes and no longer being uses. What a shame, so much potential and all going to waste. Out room was very big and the shower was awesome but the room was old and worn out with dust on baseboard an 1 inch thick. The tv was one of the old 24" cluckers, couch was dirty and old and the bed mattress seemed like it was 30 years old. We did not see any handicap access to the hotel either. If they put in some money and upgraded it and got in someone who knew how to manage it and capitalize on its history this could be hopping!

Great value for historic hotel.
Great value. Room was clean and bed was very comfy. Staff was nice and said there are plans to update the hotel soon, which if could definitely use a bit of restoring. Walking distance to shops and restaurants and a few nice open spaces to relax.

Nice hotel with old time flair
Hotel was in an interesting downtown location within walking distance to a variety of restaurants, craft beer pubs, theatre, and minor league ball stadium. Also convenient to the Pinchot state park which was our ultimate destination. This is an old hotel with cool architectural features that no one bothers to include in new constructions. The hotel was clean and well-maintained though it could do with a few upgrades. They have retained some of the architectural features through earlier updates and will continue to do so. The hotel has recently been reacquired by the town of York and new updates are planned.
