Great old building...
Great location! Not quite as clean as it should be. My biggest complaint was that the hotel settled so much that the bed in our room was unlevel. I suggested that they block up the head of the bed to level it out and they passed the info along to their maintenance team. It's an old building. If you appreciate that then you'll enjoy this hotel. The bathroom had a modern update.

The hotel was located in the quarter a block off Bourbon. It was an old hotel with lots of character. The staff was extremely pleasant and courteous. The rooms are small, quiet and comfortable. The outlets in the room are limited for charging your devices. They could use chargers on the night stands.

French Quarter Hotel
I've stayed many times at the AJ over the last 20 years and have enjoyed its rich history, funky but comfortable rooms, great courtyard for morning coffee or evening wine, friendly employees, and awesome location on a quiet street. It is unfortunate that I'm going to take them down a notch or two. The place is falling apart and I have seen no signs of any kind of repair work. It needs a major make over. Also it could be cleaner. The floors seem to have last been mopped about 2 years ago. Fortunately the bathroom, linens and towels are clean and the bed is comfortable. I doubt I will stay there again unless I see some sign of work being done.
