4/10 Fair

One of the worst hotel experiences I've had
First, the name is misleading -- the location is nowhere close to JFK airport. Not even close. Location is sketchy, limited (word) nearby, especially at night. One side of hotel faces train, so prepare noise for hours.
Having said that, before my other comments, I want to emphasize that the evening clerk was very patient and attentive, even with limited resources in office
Security (employee) was provided in the lobby, but the hotel's interior access doors are not locked and folks coming through street doors were.
Sounds through hallway base level
Vendor machine did not work. Ice machine do did not work
Let card was filthy
Odors in hallways
Bed cover not cleaned and smelled of body odor. Not sure if pillow cases were replaced from last reservation
A/C broken, buttons broken off
Two TV controls but both had no batteries ... Could not use TV
Carpet was dirty.
Patches of wallpaper were torn away
Bathroom generally clean but bath tub friction mat was so worn down that was more like a decal. No safety hands in the bath. Injury and lawsuit to be waiting when someone falls down.
Overall, this is not a safe, welcoming, quiet, or clean hotel. I've stayed in some of the smallest motels in the U.S. -- in Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Florida, and more. But none of these were as dirty and poorly maintained as Hotel Mint. I would be embarrassed foreign travelers see this as an American example of hotels.
