Great Boutique Hotel
Was looking for the most affordable new option, and took a risk on this newer hotel. Would absolutely stay here again. The location is perfect, just a few easy blocks from the train station, and walkable to all of the Pearl District. Hotel staff was wonderful, the don't use any feather pillows or bedding (for others like me with allergies). Good tea selection, plus coffee in the lobby for free 24 hours a day. Shower was lovely as well. A small desk would be nice in the room, but a non issue. Blackout curtains on the windows. There is some street noise, we had a park view, and there are basketball courts there, but nothing ear plugs couldn't fix. Highly recommend.

The hotel room was great! I didn't find a safe or microwave in the room but the staff was friendly and warmed up some leftovers for me. The hotel is located a walking distance from the train station and a few blocks from great restaurants and shopping.

Great character and service, lacking amenities
Very nicely remodeled historical building, well done finishes. Shower was fantastic. Front desk staff were above and beyond friendly and helpful. However, the room I had was small and didn't include any amenities such as coffee maker, microwave or a desk to work from(this was a business trip). This was some what made up for by coffee in the lobby. Another review mentioned early morning noise which I initially scoffed at, but sure enough, around 3-4 a.m there was a lot of noise that sounded like someone moving dumpsters around. The immediate neighborhood did not seem very attractive or have a lot of places to eat, but walking a few blocks provided adequate choices. This hotel hasn't been open long, hopefully they will make some minor changes. It would be great if the vacant space on the first floor became a coffee/ breakfast place.

Nice hotel, dicey area
My boyfriend and I decided to just take a day trip to Portland, since I had never been. So we took the train, so we didn't have to worry about driving and parking and all that jazz. The hotel is a VERY short distance from the train. And as we were coming up to the hotel, my first thought was "We are going to die here." And I was terribly disappointed for the price. BUT - as soon as you walk in through the doors, it is like you are entering a different universe. Harlow Hotel is very clean, very modern, the staff is friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, clean and had a great view. The ONLY downfall about this stay in particular is they are trying to clean up this part of town, so we did get harassed a few times from local homeless. But overall, the hotel was very nice. While it is a nice hotel, it is still in renovating stages for some areas, and the location is a bit dicey; so I'm not sure I would pay that price again for this stay. But if the area is cleaned up by the time we come back, I would definitely stay here again!
