Sunglasses went 'missing' from room.
My Colombian wife and I booked two rooms for us and her family on Valentines' Day, Feb. 14th. We had held our Colombian wedding here 6 years ago so had high hopes for our stay but were disappointed. The disappointments began when my wife and I returned from dinner at around 11 in the evening. Security at the front door slowed us from entering the hotel and then the front desk made us wait 10+ minutes while they verified my wife's identity. As background, I checked in without her in the afternoon and didn't know I'd need her passport for check in. Needless to say we were irate that after paying for 2 rooms for the evening they were questioning my wife's identity and making a bigger deal then it should have been. The morning came and at check out we asked to speak to the hotel manager to express our dissatisfaction about the night before. It took a few minutes but eventually we spoke with the manager. It was at that point I realized I had left my sunglasses on the chair in our room. The manager paired me up with the head housekeeper and he and I went back upstairs. When we arrived my hotel room door was open and the maid was cleaning my room. There were no sunglasses and she claimed she had not seen any. While I cannot 100% prove she took them I know they were in the room on the chair 15 earlier and now they were no longer there. I went back downstairs and while the hotel manager listened she didn't do anything for us. Here it is a week later and still no satisfaction.

Selectively charges customers extra "tax"
The property is updated and the cleaning and service staff are good. However, my big problem with this stay is that they wrongfully charged me the hotel tax that they are not supposed to charge foreigners and when I wrote back to them to ask them why they did this, I never got a response, even after sending a follow-up email to remind them that I was still waiting for an explanation. I also included a copy of my invoice that shows clearly that my citizenship is Canadian and Canadian passport number clearly on the invoice as well as my hotels.com confirmation that states clearly that foreigners are exempt the 16% hotel tax. The worse part of this situation is that I checked in with 4 other Canadians, and none were charged the tax. We all booked through Hotels.com, and we all were Canadian citizens who provided our passports to the hotels - and yet I was the only one charged the tax (and I am definitely not a dual Colombian citizen). The only difference is that I was the only one of non-white origin. Do with that information what you may but I will never go back to this place. I gave them a week to respond to my email, so I would not have to write this review, but here it is now.

Deficient service this time!
I usually stay in this Hotel while visiting Bogota and have never face a situation like this. The first night, I didn't have the remote control for the TV. The following morning I asked them and when I got to the Hotel, the control was there but as it was a DirecTV remoto, was not configured with the TV, so I had to control it manually. Once again, I complained and the following night, the DirecTV box was not even sending the signal to the TV, so I couldn't even watch the TV. In summary, the person that left the control in my room never tested the TV, no comments!

Good overall
We stayed here on New Year's Eve. The staff were very nice, professional and friendly. We were given a nice bigger than expected room, think we got an upgrade. Huge bed. Big bathroom. Little office desk area, big TV, strong wifi. Very comfortable. The gym I okay and has a few machines and some free weights. The jacuzzi needs to be booked in advance. The buffet breakfast was very good also. The only thing we didn't like was the room service which we had to return uneaten, it was horrible (but that tends to be the case with much room.service around the world). The location is a taxi or Uber ride from park 93, and the shopping area below it. Easy to get to.

Ok hotel that didn't quite meet expectations.
This hotel was probably at its best 10-20 years ago, some areas could use a revamp but overall it's not bad. The spa area did not match the photos at all and was a bit uncomfortable, but wifi was good and the breakfast nice. Complementary tea and coffee was not always on offer in the lobby as expected. Had to change rooms once as the one facing the main road was really loud, but once at the back of the building it was possible to get some sleep. Will try somewhere else in Bogota next time.
