Convenient and Clean Hotel
Just a quick overnight stay from San Diego to get to Universal Studios the next day. Staff was friendly and helpful over the phone, the guy that checked us in lacked a little pizzazz though. Easy access to parking and from vehicle to room. Didn't really use any hotel amenities, it was nice and clean enough to get the job done. A little janky in spots, but overall a decent 60's chic remodel of an older motel. Easy to get in the car and bump around the neighborhood to CVS or Coffee Bean as needed. Jerry's Deli also close for a quick diner if you need it. Chose this property as a roughly half-price alternative to Sheraton or Hilton right next to the park.

We arrived early, at noon. We were given a key to the pool, and told our room would be ready within the hour as they were presently cleaning it. They took my cell number to notify us. At three, I went to the desk. They said it still wasn't ready. Finally, they got us a room. The bathtub was chipped and peeling, not a big deal, but odd for a $220.00 room. The carpet was old and dirty. We were in an adjoining room with paper thin walls, and people singing at the top of their lungs next door. We asked them to stop at 11:39pm. The keys demagnetized 6 times. They told us to stop letting it touch our cell phones, which we hadn't. They just shared a purse. We had to visit the front desk at least four times. Then had to share keys rather then go back again. The room was not cleaned once in our three night visit. We left the room at noon one day, 10:00 am the next day- and was told that this must be why. No apology- just asked if we needed anything. Towels and soap were delivered, as we were completely out. Somehow the "coffee person" was doing her job, as this was delivered on time all days with no problem. It is apparently a different person. I understand that this is a retro hotel, and the lobby is beautiful, as is the pool area. We, however, will never stay here again. The price tag does not reflect the level of cleanliness or service we would expect.

Very disappointing!
I was extremely disappointed in our stay. I stayed there with my 3 adult daughters while on a bridal dress shopping trip. I booked our two-room stay several months in advance and requested adjoining rooms and queen-size beds. I called to confirm the week before and again requested adjoining rooms. When we arrived I was told our two rooms were on separate floors. After I reminded them that I requested adjoining rooms, I was told there were none available but given two rooms on the same floor. Both rooms had double beds instead of queen. Both rooms had adjoining doors, but evidently they could not put us next to each other. As we had a long day of wedding dress shopping, we went to bed around 11:00. The walls of this hotel are paper-thin. Blaring TVs, loud music, slamming doors, people running down the halls and yelling, and very loud "coupling" was going on until 3:00 am. As the room next to mine got extremely loud and inappropriate, my daughter and I moved into our other room where all 4 of us spent the remainder of the evening in two double beds, from 2am until 6am, when the hallway doors started slamming and loud guests again were walking down the hall. We all got very little sleep, extremely disappointed that my requests were ignored, and we left as soon as possible. Will not stay again.
