2/10 Poor

No issue with an old hotel, but it felt like the hotel had not been maintained for decades. The pieces in the room didn't match, bedding was uncomfortable, the carpet felt dirty and had stains and tears in it. The elevator display was crooked which was concerning, and often took multiple times to get a floor button to connect. The 1 of 2 treadmills in the gym that was not out of order consistently turned off every 3 or 4 minutes. I shared all of this with the front desk or calling operator and it didn't make a difference. For what I paid for my stay (well over $1000) it was disappointing compared to other options in the immediate area.

Stay Far Away!
106 Cheap for a Reason! Review of The Congress Plaza Hotel & Convention Center Reviewed 2 days ago I don't even know where to start. First, if you're reading reviews - take all of these to heart and set your expectations correctly. The ones saying the staff is the absolute rudest you'll ever come across isn't an exaggeration. Cheking in was a horrendeous exerpience on a busy concert weekend. It's not like the city doesn't ever see crowds of this magnatude for a concert to explain this insanity. Check-in line was TWO HOURS at a minimum, wrapped all the way around the lobby, down the grand hallway and out the door. When talking with the front desk prior to check in, simple questions were met with utter disgust that they were being bothered in any way. When we needed to add another person's name to the reservation via phone call, even then it was the most unhelpful people answering the phones. The hotel itself is historic and you can see the beautiful original elements throughout the property, but it's been hacked up, patched up, painted over and then redecorated by what looks like a teenage boy with LED lightup headboards. It was so bizzare. The old charm is hard to find, sadly. If you're lucky to get a room facing the park, it's going to be the best part of your stay - but that's about the best thing you can hope for at this property. If you book, try your darndest to book a lake view room.

Check in was horrible
It was a busy weekend, but waiting in line 40 minutes to check in is ridiculous. They also need on site food options for late at night. I paid for the balance of my stay at check in but they wouldn't give me a receipt.

8/10 Very good

The hotel is beautiful for it's age. The rooms are really spacious. It looks old, but fits the hotel. Staff was all nice. I would not eat at the restaurant at the hotel unless you have lot's of time. The food was good, but they had no idea what was going on. They were kinda rude also. I would stay at this hotel again. Love the character. If your looking for a high top hotel this might not be for you.
