Disappointing transfer to a different hotel...
I was very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel to others. This was my second stay at the Beacon. The first time I was very pleased and everything went smoothly. This time though, the complete opposite was true. I made the reservations about two months ahead of time and called the day of to announce to the hotel that I would be arriving late at night (around midnight) and they said that was fine and a note would be placed at the front desk. When I arrived, I was told the hotel overbooked and I would be transferred to a different hotel for my first night of stay, then transferred back for the second night. Obviously this was upsetting as I booked well in advance and called EARLIER THAT DAY about my reservation only to arrive in the middle of the night and get bounced around to a different hotel. The next morning I called early (around 10am) to see what my room status was as I needed to check-out of the transfer hotel by 11am. I was told no room was available and according to their info, my reservation was cancelled. I argued that was not the case, and had to explain the situation to the front desk, who said they would call me when a room opens, but to come and keep the bags there. Long-story-short, I needed to call an additional 3 times over the course of 4 hours before I actually got a room. Every time I called I needed to re-explain my situation. The hotel desk/manager never even apologized for the hassle... but perhaps I was just being to nice about it.

The hotel is clean but service horrible!
Room was clean, odor free, etc. Their costumers service sucks!!! I came after brunch I wanted to have a mimosa I sat at the bar after checking in I waited like 5 minutes the bartender didn't even noticed I was ther then I went to my room to drop my stuff and come back downstairs I sat at the bar once more time in the same place. After I waited the same time once again (5 minutes) bartender saw me and didn't even say "I will be with you shortly" "give me a couple minutes" nothing. I noticed he was busy closing a costumer's check ok no a big deal. After keep waiting I asked a waiter who walked by if there was a bartender or another at the bar he pointed the guy I knew was bartender; he went to the bartender and told him I wanted a drink but the bartender didn't say anything no to even look. I waited couple more minutes and I gave up I left really disappointed because I wanted a drink in the same hotel I was staying at instead of going out or driving so why not to drink where you are staying. I ended up going outside after two tries.

The hotel was nice, but we did not get as big of a room as we thought we were getting. We had quite a few people crammed into a room we thought would fit up to 6 but really only slept 4 (one of our guests had to sleep on the floor (No cots available here). We requested a mini fridge before and during our trip and it didn't get to our room until the evening of day 2. We had to request for towels 4 times after not recieving them the first call, and our request to get our car out of valet parking was also not effective. The front staff was a bit rude when i called to ask questions before arriving (like if a fridge was in the room)... and there were signs EVERYWHERE about being quiet so we thought we'd have a quiet stay and a good nights rest. However, people were running up and down the halls slamming doors for an hr and a half. When we made a formal complaint and even talked to the manager with no results other than a "well that sucks.. shouldve called security" type answer. I've worked customer service for over 10 years- and some of the staff were amazing. The valet staff and the bartender at the grill were great. The rooftop bar didnt have any ingredients for the drinks and i felt terrible for the bartender up there. She was nice and trying to do everything she could. For the price you pay to stay here you get NOTHING, and an I dont care attitude, which is terrible for a hotel bragging about being a more upscale. Next time I think we will go to the Holiday Inn....

The bellmen and front desk staff were very kind and professional. The people working food and beverage were rude and truly terrible. On our first day, the person delivering our room service order would not take no for an answer when trying to enter our room. He told her repeatedly not to come in because I was undressed but she did anyway. Her excuse when she walked in on my without clothes was "I am a girl too." Then just a few minutes later someone tried to enter the room again. Luckily we had the guard on the door. The next night, we asked if the rooftop bar was open and they told us yes. We went up just to take a quick look and a picture. When we got off the elevator, we were told it was closed. I asked if we could take a quick look and one picture and was told yes. Not 30 seconds later, the bartender screamed across the restaurant for us to "Get out of here. We are closed!" I have never been spoken to so rudely in my life. Then the following morning when we called to inquire about our complimentary champagne that came with our room, the food and beverage staff acted like they had no idea what we were talking about. Twenty minutes on the phone later and the champagne finally arrived. Not even worth all the effort to get it! Rooms were clean. Bathroom are a bit outdated and the air conditioning in our room did not work great.

Needs a lot of improvement
Front desk and door staff were very welcoming and friendly. The location is good. The room was relatively spacious and had a kitchenette. That’s the end of the positives. The restaurant and bar is nothing short of a disaster and we didn’t even eat there. Stopped in day 1 for a bite at mid afternoon and were told the kitchen was closed. It took forever to get one drink and the bill. The next day we tried to have breakfast. Waited about 5 minutes at the host stand without getting seated or even seeing one staff member. Went to the bar/cafe area again seeing no staff. Went to the kitchen and told a busboy that we were waiting for a table. He hustled back into the kitchen but still no one came out to seat us for another few minutes so we left. My wife gave them one more shot for happy hour the next day. Again no one was around - staff or customers. It’s hard to fathom how much money they must be losing on the restaurant. Lastly the room had a constant tapping noise from the elevators. For two days of our stay, the housekeeping staff didn’t have regular coffee for the in room coffee service. Overall very substandard.
