Overall, a nice stay
Minor things need to be replaced or repaired in order for this to be worth the money they charge. But overall, a nice stay. Large room, comfortable bed, nice little balcony.

Like a king in his castle
The hotel is basically in a park just outside of Dalkey. There are multiple walking trails through this park which contains a hill next to the shore. There are great vistas from the top of the hill. Lots of families and dog walkers use the park. Dalkey is within walking distance and Sandy Cove is a short drive or train ride away. The restaurants in the hotel were good and there is afternoon tea. The Dungeon Bar and Grill is in an actual dungeon. The room was excellent with a very modern bathroom. The hotel features some large and luxurious rooms as well as basic rooms. Antiques are incorporated throughout the hotel.

Well I have stayed here a few times over the years primarily as I like the location and it's an easy walk down to Dalkey. Plus its convenient for my business travel as client I visit is relatively nearby. However the hotel needs a major update. Mattresses are so old and rooms are run down and a little dirty even. The room service is atrocious. I was brought a bowl of soup without a spoon... barely toasted bread. My colleague staying in another room got partially frozen pizza delivered. When I asked for a spoon, there was no apology but almost a snarky attitude. Soup got cold of course while waiting for spoon. Mattress was so poor , I could not sleep on it. Ela at the front desk kindly upgraded for my second night as my back was so in pain after attempting to sleep on the floo . I got a lovely room for the second night. However because of the various disappointments , I lost faith in the place and cancelled an additional six nights for myself and my colleague. I don't believe I will return. Otherwise the grounds and location are nice.
