Queen Anne Hotel, San Francisco
Do Not Stay Here.
A nightmare. The Queen Anne is one of the grand old Victorian buildings, in a place of prominence in its day. Now, a shabby neighborhood. The photos of the interior showed what appeared to be a well cared for & elegant lobby area, decorated appropriately for its age and status. What you couldn't tell from the photos was that the owners had used cheap decoration instead of repairs. Every flaw was painted or draped over. The bedroom was dusty. Thin, ratty carpet, poorly maintained bathroom, bare minimum towels, and apparently original mattress should have been an embarrassment to the owner. A cover-up of shabbily applied paint and cheap leaded glass is not the same as a true renovation. We were shown to our room by an employee who actually seemed proud of the place! Parking was $30.00 a night, across the scary street, with no voucher, no help with luggage, and no visible security personnel. A receipt was refused for our deposit (?), parking, and the room, both at check-in and check-out! We're making an appointment at our bank, for tomorrow. At other hotels, we've been given a receipt. A front desk person at Queen Anne said, in the morning,"We don't know what they actually charge you, so how can we give you a receipt?" He finally tossed over a receipt for the parking only. My husband handed these people our debit card for the parking and a deposit the night before. Who knows what will happen. Getting a new acct. number! Just horrible. This should be removed from

History and charm
Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The service from the staff was friendly and warm. The hotel is full of history and character- I’m glad we chose to stay here.

A step into history
I felt like I was looking at the world through a Sepia lense, should have been using a rotary phone rather than an iPhone, and wearing long johns to bed. Great experience, staff were very friendly, and they serve those amazing Costco muffins at breakfast (as of 6/7/18).

My New SF Go-To!
I absolutely loved The Queen Anne Hotel. The staff was a delight, the complimentary coffee served 'round the clock was DELICIOUS (I wish I would have asked what brand it was!), the towels/ linens were soft and plush, and the actual property was full of history and character! The complimentary sherry and cookies in the parlor was a great touch. The hotel was also within walking distance from Chinatown and if you like to hoof it, Pier 39 as well! I will definitely be staying here every time I visit.
